Dude, that's an amazing idea. I might just copy you on that.

well still, people are talking about there have been lots of solar flares recently.

I don't think anyone has any idea what they're talking about on solar flares.
Look at this site.

I watch this site daily, and THIS is all I ever see in the solar flare category:

So basically the earth will be lined up with the sun for the first time in 26,000 years and there have been lots of solar flares coming from the sun recently. And they say we're gonna get hit by it or whatnot.

First time in 26,000 years? We turn around the sun. We are lined up with sun, 24/7. Idiot.

6. The Physicists

This one's case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they've determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon - while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

Wow....
What's gonna happen?

The pictures don't trick me over the fact that this is the dozenth thread about this topic, always resulting in the same arguments. This doesn't interest me anymore. It barely ever did so, actually.

Wow. Thankyou for being so kind to share your thoughts into a completely usefull post :)

I think that if we're gonna die, it might be because of our atom smasher tunnel, because of a black hole or because of something no one would've thought of.

I think that's the only thing I can think of that scares me.

Lets see, the answer is no. This has been debated so many times it's not funny anymore. People need to stop posting new threads of the same debate over and over.

EDIT:
Actually, when I posted this thread before, I was debating the very real possibility of a black hole somewhere between the earth and the sun. There are a few studies that show that there could definately be one there, and if we pass it, it will be around that exact time. The Mayans also had drawings of something similar that are being linked. If it were to pass between the earth and sun, the gravity feild would be pretty much oblitherated by it, and the earth would go flying away, or, even scarier, would be sucked right in to a black hole.

there are no black holes within our orbit and that is not a real possibility at all. if there was than we'd probably be seeing a few minor effects (eg. planets getting sucked into it, our atmosphere disappearing, us dying etc.). And the mayans drawing black dots doesn't count as a black hole because even now the most cutting edge technology cannot see any black holes, just the stars being sucked into them, and i can assure you that the mayans could not see them unless they had some ancient form of the Hubble Space Telescope

Isn't there going to be a meteor crash in 2015?
I know it will I read it somewhere.

So if the world ends up in 2012, we won't be able to die from a meteor. Instead we'll have to stick with the bloody Sun Flares.

Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that five years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it'll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it'll be God himself who presses the stop button...

1. Mayan Calendar

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:

Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and
Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says...

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so - and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

1) First of all, you got it all wrong. The maya only did sacrifices to the water god Chaac so they would have a prosper harvest year. The aztecs were the bloodthirsty ones. The maya didn't believe in the end of the world, the Aztecs did.

The aztecs played some sort of primitive soccer game where the losers had to suicide. They weren't too smart, you see.

2) What kind of big fat bullshit is that? Solar flares, although they have happened and have interfered with satellite function and the like, will never, EVER be able to directly affect the Earth, if you knew atleast half of the shit you were talking about you would know that stars have a lifespan. The sun will become 4 times it's size and engulf the earth in billions of years (Red giant phase), and in some billions more, the sun will run out of energy and contract until it's 1/5th of it's original size (White/Black dwarf phase). The sun hasn't even started the red giant phase, and trust me when I say that doesn't take 4 years.

3) That shit doesn't even exist. The only thing similar would be the Large Hadron Collider. Which is incredibly safe, and if it fails (It's not scheduled for use on 2012, which proves you don't even know what the **** this is) it will, and I'm quoting here, create a micro black hole for a split second. This would happen if something called the Hawking radiation theory was real.

4) Because it's written it must mean it's true. Excellent thinking there. You're the reason George Bush was reelected.

5) ...
What the **** are you talking about. I mean, what the **** are you talking about. This shit is faker than a 7 dollar bill.

6) THIS IS JUST IN! PHYSICS CAN PREDICT THAT SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING WHAT IT IS, AND WITH A 99% POSSIBILITY.

There's so much bullshit in there is hard to stand, ughh.

7) What the **** do the magnetic poles have to do with UV radiation. The earth isn't surrounded by a magnetic field, it's surrounded by something called the ozone field (WHICH BLOCKS UV RADIATION), and the earth itself is the magnet.

And why the **** would they change places? Just because?

Where the **** did you get this shit?

I lol at your ignorance concerning the atom smashing tunnel shit.
It will create millions of tiny micro black holes for about a second, but thats it.

And thats only because the physics it is meant to show exist do not.

A thing appearing out of nothing?

My ass.

More like two of those waves connecting and bringing forth the ****ing shit inside them.
And because of this at an accelerated pace, black holes will ensue, and no, the world will not end.

Go an hero, those who believed that smashing atoms together would kill us all.

Go do it now.

I lol'd. No, no there aren't black holes within our orbit. Not even one. A black hole is a dead star, and the only star in our solar system is the sun. If there was ever another star, we'd be ****ed.

Actually no, a black hole is a freaking rip in space with enough power inside it to start 3 more big bangs at the same ****ing time as exploding the universe we are already in.

Dead stars just explode and vanish, dude.

And no, there are no black holes in our orbit, and there probably never will be, EVER; Cop.

You obviously have never taken an astronomy class above the second grade. A black hole is formed by a failed star, which literally implodes in itself forming a smaller, dark ball with so much gravity that it can even suck in light. You're mistaking them with wormholes, which don't actually exist aside from in the movies. But you're right about one thing, there will never be a black hole in our solar system until the sun dies, and maybe even not then (they don't all turn into them).
