So, this happened.

For those not interested in clicking the link, during FurFest, powdered chlorine was left in the staircase where the event was taking place, releasing chlorine gas. 19 people were sent to the hospital with complaints of nausea and other symptoms. I'm curious how you guys feel about the subject. Do you think it's fair to hate something so much you try to poison a convention of people?

Dammit, Hew, this is meant to be a serious discussion about the different behaviors in our society, and how extremists take to showing their opinions on matters in a negative way. This is NOT the time to take well placed comedic jabs at everyone's most hated yet well known charity towards animal rights, which is well known because of all the shots taken at it, as well as the things it does to earn said shots!

Well, serious discussion about guys wearing animal costumes does come off unheard but I agree.

This was a pretty horrible thing to read. Chlorine Gas was used in the first World War and it was not a pretty sight to look at. I wonder why they'd actually do this? I mean, it is just a convention right?

Yeah, it's just a convention. Just like an anime convention revolves around anime, FurFest revolves around anthropomorphic creatures, AKA furries. Some of it is sexual, a majority is not, and apparently some people hate it so much they decided to try killing people.

If it wasn't me, it was going to be someone else. And you did not make that disclaimer known so I assumed this was a fairly casual topic.

But okay, I just read up on a few more sites on the subject. The chlorine attack appears to be intentional because the hotel has no swimming pool. The answer to your question is of course not. And no one on this forum is going to say otherwise. Besides I don't think the person who did this hates furries as much as he's just a sociopath in general.

Btw: Here's a picture of the Chlorine

Haters are gonna hate is all I can say. I mean there are people who just hate things just to hate them, there's those who have reasons to hate things, and then there's those who have "reasons." I mean I see this no different from those who are homophobic and such. Do I think it's fair? No, but when has anything in this world been fair? It's a world of two knights clashing, one always trying to gain the upper hand of the other. Fairness holds no water in this world, it seems like it should, it would make sense if it did, but it's a bowl made of paper, that would soon cave in because facts and logic aren't what makes decisions, it's emotions and opinions.

Damn, this is pretty fucked up
Of course it's not alright to do this to people, no matter how much you don't like them or their weird ass fetishes

Just saying but the fetish thing has been significantly downplayed over the years. Other than the realm of rule34, the sexual connotation of furries is no longer a subject of contention on the Internet.

If anything the world is now just a little more tolerant.

Good job however on the fursuit wearers who had to stand outside in the freezing cold while they waited for the bomb to detox.

I can see it now: Several Scarecrow Cosplayers will come out and pretend-attack the crowd

I think the fact that some lunatic would actually take the time to create such a thing just to hurt people who have different likes/dislikes than himself is sickening. It doesn't matter how perverse or demented a group of people are it doesn't give you the license to be a dickbag and harm them.

Now with that said, can you imagine how fucking hilarious it would be to see that hospital? Emergency room just PACKED with people in fursuits?

"What the hell happened?
"We had an outbreak"
"Oh my god! Of what?!"
"Rabies..."

I still can't help but wonder why it's even hated in the first place. Heck, a good deal of my family finds my interests sick and wrong, but they just bear it and grit their teeth, my mother in particular believing that anything considered a "fetish" tends to be homosexual by nature. But this kind of thing is, quite literally, insane.

Eeehh, who knows. Sure there are a select few furries who, let's be honest, may actually benefit the gene pool if they were never included in it in the first place. Doesn't give someone the right to take it into action though.

The same could be said for literally every group in existence, and nobody has the right to take any life. Though, that isn't to say that the criminal justice system is entirely flawed with the Death Sentence. That's an entirely different matter though.

Also, Kai, long time no see. I agree with you, naturally.
