Quote from Alienthe official entry requirements are on the front page, it isn't stated animation software is limited to flash
also, camera movement isn't necessarily easier in 3d than it is in flash, nor is making/animating a 3d stickfigure(completely rigged). idk I feel like you and alpha seagull are undermining the work put into 3d
p.s i'm sure if there is a really big difference than stone/other judges will take into account the capabilities of the animation software :/
I totally agree with Alien. Talent is talent, regardless of the output medium. The same applies to effort, the same amount, if not more goes in 3D animation.
Quote from Alpha SeagullExactly. I'm not saying to judge 3D animations worse really. I'm saying they should judge it based on the amount of actual work put into the anim. So if the person does something cool that even 3D animators will have a rough time with, then yeah he should get points for that. But if he does something that flash animators have a rough time doing but is easy for a 3D anim (like angles and shading), then I think he shouldn't get extra points for that.
By this logic (being judged on effort over quality of animation) FL Nordin (Yes I know he was disqualified) should never gotten any cash prize in the game tribute competition because he rotoscoped, even though the animation looked amazing. He rotoscoped instead of putting full effort into pulling off that cinematic sequence. Are you telling me that if a 3D animator pulls off that sequence with his own skill, but finds it easy, should be judged differently?
Your logic is flawed.
