Honestly I don't know what I want to do. I'm thinking about doing two lists, one for quality and one for how much the art matched the theme because honestly that's what's going to determine everyone's position at this point. The reason I don't want to put it up to a poll is because I feel like that would take away from the importance of the theme and could potentially fall victim to favoritism.

When you're polling the hoipolloi on the results it's going to be somewhat subjected to favoritism.

It would have been different if you made a scoring system and appointed judges.

Eh, I don't want it to be over complicated like that. I'll probably just do it myself since I know what it is that I'm looking for and trust that I won't deviate from that.
When I get back from lunch I'm going to pull the plug on this.

I'd prefer it to be that way anyways. After all, at least you're the contest runner.

All I can say is I put a ton of effort into my piece, probably put more time into it than anyone else did. I'm sure not figuring out the coloring will be my undoing. But I was afraid that coloring would sort of ruin the aesthetic, so I went with detail and sharp line work.

When the subject is character development, and you say that we're supposed to describe our characters with our art. That's really vague, I could've gone a thousand different directions with it, characters are what I do. So I just thought I'd do something that you could draw a lot of conclusions just by looking at.

But you "knowing what you're looking for" without us "except for drone" having had that knowledge, is really discouraging.

Alright time is up. I'm not going to be taking any entries after this point.

As far as your comments, Jutsu, you're right and I do agree. However in a strange twist of events Drone hasn't finished the commission yet and I was really hoping he would before the second phase started so everyone could see and I could point things out. It's all good though, because ironically while I do like Drone's entry a whole hell of a lot, I don't think it's as fitting to the subject as I was hoping. What a lot of you all did was design an original character, which is really nice, but it's the second part that got everyone. I wanted you to tell me about your character with one picture. If you felt like the theme was vague you could have asked me anything that might have helped clear it up for you.

I'm going to open all of these up in tabs in a little while and go through until we have our results <3

edit: yeah, Drone was appealing more to my love of sexy women XD

I feel like a lot of people hit the first part of the theme and some people hit the second part of it.

For example I don't see how 3 heads is a character, but it does show development.
And don't get me wrong I really like that piece.

I think he's trying to show what the person looks like on the inside, behind what his outward appearance might lead you to suspect.

That's what I mean by hitting the development but missing the character.

Who is the character?

Drones character is some sort of river spirit, Ziax's character is royalty. It's apparent by the artwork alone.

You could easily guess by just looking at it. He's a swordsman, clearly.

Three heads though? I'm not so sure about who the character actually is.

I'm not ragging on his art, I love it. All I'm saying is if you're going to split the criterion of the theme they should be of equal value.

The way I'm looking at it now, I'm going off of originality, theme, and quality with a possible 3 points in each category.
