OOC: OK, FUCK IT, I'M GOING IN DRY!

IC: Cal takes the initiative, stepping before the group. "Hey man, look. I know how this looks. You've got every right to not trust us. But I also know that you're the kind of man who takes his job seriously. You look like the respectable type, probably studied your ass off in school. You're a good man, and as a good man, I have to ask you to follow your Hippocratic Oath. I too once looked out for the safety and wellbeing of others. I was a chef, had a thriving restaurant. Never had a single illness happen, kept my business cleaner than Catholic nun. I respected all my guests, because it was my livelihood. I'm not asking you to treat us for free. I'm not asking you to like us. All I'm asking is that you do your job, get us at least patched up with the basics. This girl is dying in front of you. When we're able to walk out of here on our own, we'll pay the bill in full, in clean cash, and be out of your hair. You have my word on my honor as a culinarian."

This entire time, Cal's been keeping his hand clenched to try and staunch the bloodflow, very clearly in pain and concerned for his comrades. The loyalty can practically be seen in his eyes and heard in his voice.

Veeran knew their time was running out. It was time to pull every resource, every trick, every morsel of concentration left in him. Jy and Calvin had said their piece, and now Veeran had to let the doctor know what the real score was. He looked at the doctor directly in the eye and let him know they meant business.

"You say 'you gangster motherfuckers', doctor, like you know us. Let me assure you that you do not."

His blood ran cold even as the words came pouring out of his mouth.

"These people are the last hope that people like you have at leaving behind a world that your children can live in. If you want those who follow you to know something that we call happiness, I suggest you work on them. Now"

He leaned in. Veeran always did that when he wanted to let people know he meant business.

"Look at me doctor. You seem like a perceptive man. Tell me I am lying. I am telling you right now that these people are in my care, and that you stand before a forked road. One leads to pain and death. The other leads to salvation. Which one will you choose? I'll give you a hint, doctor. Do your job. Save lives."

Veeran refused to break eye-contact with the doctor. It would take the full force of his personality to get them through this.

"I don't give a fuck about your shit restaurant! I am sick and tired of spending my fucking drugs that come out of my fucking pocket on you street filth. You know where I just came from? Treating a child that got shot in the fucking head in a drive-by. His life, his entire family's life is fucking RUINED because fucking money is worth more to you people than fucking humanity."

The doctor faltered, but momentarily.

"Or else what, fucker? You're going to fucking kill me? You think that hasn't happened before? Yeah, fucking kill me, because you're the only fucking people that need treatment, right?"

He blinked anxiously.

"Get the fuck out of here."

"You don't seem to understand, doctor. I wasn't asking."

Veeran looked at him with every steely intent that could humanly be mustered.

"You would risk every patient in this building because you don't want to save an innocent life? I am telling you now that these people are not just innocent, they are martyrs. They are bleeding out and risk losing their lives so that people like you, and the patients in this building can be free of the scum that is settling on this colony. I know men like you, doctor. I am one of them myself. Money? FUCK Money."

This was the first time Veeran swore in front of the team. He tried to avoid it unless it made his point. But when he did swear, people noticed.

"I am not talking about money. I am talking about life. You saw a child that got his head blown off in a drive-by? Cry me a river, doctor, you have no idea how many children I have saved from that fate. This woman lying before us, and this wounded man will do more to contribute to putting a FUCKING end to all these problems that plague us than you will ever know. My name is Veera Badran. They call me Veeran. Son of Sooran. I will not kill a man of medicine for doing what he thinks is right. But I need you to know that if these two people die, this city will burn. Not by my hand, but by the hand of the scum that has set out to leech this colony for everything it is worth. All because you let this woman die. Do your job, doctor, and save their lives. You owe us nothing. But you owe your profession everything you have. Tell me I am wrong."

"You will let people, innocent people, die because of your preconcieved notions of who will save and who you wont? Is that what you do around here? What the FUCK am I going to do? You don't want to know, doctor. But you do need to know what the fuck YOU are going to do. When the Red Dragon, and the corrupt cops, and the true gangsters of this colony keep flooding your hospital with the corpses of children and innocent men and women, what are YOU going to do when you realized that you let one of the only people who could SAVE this FUCKING city BLEED to death because you were too haughty, too narrow-minded and too hypocritical? What are you going to do when the underworld keep piling up DEAD CHILDREN in your hospital and you let the people who can stop them die in front of your eyes? You want to know who the fuck we are? I'll tell you who the fuck we are. We are the last hope that this city has, and you are THIS close to having the blood of this entire city in your hands, doctor. Choose wisely."

"I'd say think of us as a group of concerned citizens, who after trying to have a discussion with some very important people with ideas about polluting waterways that conflicted with our own, we ended up in this situation. But I know your type, doc. You only deal with what's before you, never looking to past to see what else may rear its head up in the future. I bet you wear bright, clean, ironed righty whiteys every day."

OOC: Much better right here.

"That kid you saw who got his head blown off... do you believe it was HIS fault that he got shot? This woman was helping in a very important operation to uncover and unseed the scum of this town. They came after us, and she risked her own life to save the life of an innocent young man. They killed him anyway. Now, it is in your hands to decide whether or not her sacrifice was in vain. You save lives doctor, you do not judge them. I only ask you to do your job and nothing else. Just remember, if you have now taken it upon yourself to be judge, jury and executioner of people who are bleeding out before you, then there is no difference between you and the kind of people who shoot children. How many innocents must DIE because you feel you are FUCKING entitled to a FUCKING explanation to do your FUCKING JOB and save FUCKING lives?"

"I believe I gave the answer, Doc. We're concerned citizens. Even you have to know about Adrian Hass'... ideals when it comes to liberally dumping waste and giving kids cancer. We just wanted to convince him that there were other ways to deal with his own garbage. You can see that his bodyguard didn't think too highly of us."

"I can't tell you that now, Doctor, and I'm sure you of all people can understand that even these walls have ears. All I can say now is that you and I are on the same side. We have the same objective as you do. No more dead children. No more innocent people killed. No more unaccountable politicians. No more gang shootouts, no more people dying while the rest watch the rot take over."

Veeran wasn't playing around.

"This colony is burning, doctor. I suspect you know this and realize it far deeper than you are letting us know. You are looking at the fire fighters. I cannot tell you the name of the man we work for because while I trust a man like you, I do not trust everyone who lurks here. All you need to know now is that a VERY vital ingredient that makes up the CURE for the vile disease that is plaguing this city is lying on this stretcher bleeding out. You can either save her or let her die. But if she dies, then this city dies with her."
