how can somebody be this fucking retarded. If you weren't a goddamn idiot and actually researched the bombings you'd know a thing or two.

Hiroshima housed a massive Naval base crucial to operations in the Pacific.
Nagasaki was the headquarters for on of Japan's largest military units.

Both cities were warned well ahead of time of the impending bombing. Planes with fliers dropped warnings in japanese for the civilians to evacuate.

The United States, after the bombings, helped rehabilitate the cities and help Japan back on its feet.

this is wrong on so many levels.

So killing random innocent people is fine because a long time ago, civilians died when Americans bombed two military significant targets a long time ago. So hey, if a Jew shoots up a German bar it's cool because the Germans killed a bunch of Jews a long time ago.

Not to mention that it was, to some degree, the Japanese who died from the bomb or US troops that would be killed in an alternative land attack. Priorities needed to be made.

To be completely honest, Japan was already planning to surrender before the bombs, and several coups were planned against Hirohito, who was probably the only reason Japan didn't surrender.

But we also needed to show russia the spooky bombs.

Anyways, I'm still kind of thinking about the bomb thing. Would dropping it in the sewer be a good idea?

I'm not entirely sure about this because if you dropped it into a sewer and it exploded. Wouldn't the explosion blast debris and rock outwards since it's exploding from under ground?though isn't there a chance that it could muffle the explosion by a little bit?

It just wasn't right what we did to them. There were several different ways to solve petty disputes than dropping a bomb that kills more people than intended. Those families didnt deserve that. Hell, no one deserves to die for a reason like that. In fact if I remember correctly, some time before the bombings, rallies were started around to stop the war, they thought their emperor was batshit crazy, refusing to step down even though they were threatened with massive bombs. Those people may not have been on our side, but they still shared our goal: removal of the leader.

But that's how war is. Leaders on both sides point at eachother and declare them enemies. Anyone who dies in the war is nothing more than a casualty. A number. No one honors the innocent people that had their lives or a loved one's life taken from them. Just the men who take them or are killed trying to take them. I just see that as wrong. Sure, its an unpopular opinion and I know you think it's a stupid one, but I have a massive problem with people being killed just because the leaders of a country dont like the leaders of another one.

Also yeah, I conveyed the wrong Idea. The people dont deserve to die. I just saw 'hiroshima' in your sentence and snapped, sorry for the rant.

Because the Pacific War was just a "petty dispute", eh?

Oh hey, I guess the millions of women and children raped by Japanese in Manchuria didn't deserve it either.
Or the thousands of women and children raped by the Russians in Germany didn't deserve it either.
Or the millions of indians Americans exterminated didn't deserve it either.
It's war, man. It sucks but it is what it is.

But they didn't succeed. sure, there were rallies, but it meant buttfuck nothing because in the end, the emperor still had control, and the war in China and the Pacific was still raging.

You have to realize WW2 was the biggest war in human history, and could've escalated to a war with Russia had we not used nuclear bombs.

You're right, man. The world is just full of assholes who think they're better than someone else and can therefore do what they want. It seems like no one likes ISIS though, so at some point we're all probably going to collectively fuck them up as a team. I hope so at least.

I don't know about you guys, but my natural reaction to seeing a nuclear fucking bomb when I walk into my house isn't going to be anything besides "shit peg it everyone there's a big bomb on the building"

I feel like it's literally impossible to save anyone from a nuclear explosion with only ten minutes to move it, no matter where you put it

Hiroshima had a blast radius of 1 mile. Even someone right next to the bomb can save themselves by being able to run a mile in 10 minutes which is pretty easy. If not then, the law of natural selection makes it a net win.

I mean like, well, I live in new york, if I go a mile in any direction I'll be around the same density of people. It's probably feasible in other places now that I think about it, but I was thinking about it in terms of where I am
I also assumed that you had to take the bomb somewhere, not that you could just leave lmao
