I dabbled but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would so I pussed out. Looking at the new cards has me interested again, though. I am typically black/white; when Oath came out I was experimenting with some nice passive synergies that mainly relied on exploiting chains of life loss/gain. I like the process of refining your deck but I guess I lost interest after doing it so many times.

I can understand that. I've been on/off with MTG as of late. Basically, you check every now and again for updates and see if it interests you? I've seen a lot of combos with the Exploit mechanic from RTR's Orzhov. Maybe you could check those out alongside the Oath cards.
Anyway, pretty sure some of the guys here is willing to give a game or so whenever asked. Some random games every now and then. Haha.

Eldritch Moon Trailer gave me goosebumps because of its awesome.

We've all been on/off with magic I think. Vier and I played a bunch a while back and I'm still interested.

I'm in the process of building a 5 color god edh deck. I'm having a hard time deciding between Child of Alara or Progenitus as the commander. The gods are indestructible so CoA is great for that but Progenitus gives me two devotion to each color.
Jun 27, 2016 3:53 PM #1452521
For me, I'd go for Child of Alara. Its a threat in of itself and adds pressure to the opponent whether or not it wants to kill it when its backed up by other Gods from Theros. I prefer CoA because at this point, the gods may already be supporting each other in a way through their own mana costs and devotions.
Let me take this moment to address the beauty of what Eldritch Moon's lore is. By god, it literally encompasses what Lovecraft is [watered down because you can fight the cosmic entity, but STILL!] I honestly love the theme. Everything that you could latch hope to, is corrupted.
The Gryffs? Once symbols of light in the darkness, now turned into an eldrazi horror. [Wretched Gryff]
An entire town ready for anything? Fuck no, its now a massive ooze with the town on its back. [Hanweir Writhing Township]
Angels? They're corrupted, changed and disturbed into Emrakul's servant of delirium. [Brisela, Voice of Nightmares]
I just love the set because it shows how hopeless it is to fight. That no matter how prepared you are against something so mind-bendingly awful, you will lose. Its so there that, due to the new meld mechanic, you can see Bruna and Gisela in their previous forms before you actually merge them together into their new form.
Of course, I'm just feeling this from the spoilers at the moment, pretty sure at some point cards that point with hope and Lilianna fighting back will remove this but damn. Which show the new meld, escalate and emerge keywords.

For those that haven't seen the new legendary angels:
and together they form:
what I find interesting about Brisela is that it's two cards put together. So that means half of Brisela is on the back of Bruna and the other half on the back of Gisela.

Bump for the simulator players
Modern Theme Deck: Auntie's Goblins

Finally I've refined it to a penultimate draft making it worthy of posting.
Now, this ain't your run of the mill mono red goblin king deck. Though the philosophy in play style is similar this deck is coming from it's own angle. Make no mistake though, this deck is all aggression because these goblins don't mess around when it comes to combat and combo game. If you're playing on simulator then please feel free to copy the deck list, paste it in and try it out for yourself. It may not be a top 8 tournament copy-paste no-heart deck like some people play, but it may surprise you. It's intended to be fun, thematic and to be strong enough to still be playable in most situations. If you only play with physical cards just know that the base of this deck, the theme; can be purchased for relatively cheap as well. Either way I hope you dig it, because I spent a lot of time considering many options and refining it to its current version.
And there you have it, my take on goblins.

The last time I played against this deck I got decimated. Combo'ing into the double death raiders was brutal early on.
In EDH news Legendary Spider

Where you spider tribals at?
Also new Liliana made my inner zombie token spam cream.

I suddenly want to make a Modern Graveyard Spider Tribal with Spider Spawning and that thing. Might just switch out a few cards from the existing one.
Liliana is making me NEED a zombie deck. Like, I've been meaning to make one but I've yet to find a motivator and here the Last Hope comes.

Just a couple more days, I can't wait for more madness themed vampires.

And here I am just playing around with Modern Gimmick decks:
Basically revolves around proliferating the +1/+1 counters using Thrummingbird or spreading them using Cytoplast Root-kin or Graft effects. Its all a big snowball effect. If left unchecked, the creatures balloon insanely big.

Based on the card costs, this must be an IRL deck?
I used to play a simic theme deck when I first started MTG, so lemme throw in my two cents.
As a simulator player I've got most of the high dollar cards off the top of my head, so my instincts are telling me this deck must be vulnerable to early discard plays and removal spells.
Luckily this is ameliorated by your counter spells and the fact that quality discard and removal spells are expensive. I highly doubt most of your buddies are rocking 4 inquisitions of kozilek or thought seize. Which would be like 60-100$ USD

I'm sure you're fine on table top.
But imagine playing a simic initiate first and then your opponent retaliates with one of these.
As for dealing with the removal spells I recommend spending a dollar to get x4 shielding plax, it's low cost to get IRL, generates neutral card advantage "replaces itself in your hand" and protects your ballooned creatures from removal. It could be a good budget option and you wont have to saddle the mana like it's a counter spell either.
I couldn't help but notice that you don't really have a lead creature, I feel like you could use a legendary that appeals to the gimmick.
If you can part with 6-10$ you could probably pick up x2 Experiment Kraj as your end game creature.
