=3 looking through all the new stuff now, but I'll probably still be a modern player "A little more open ended than standard."

Haha, agreed. I'm looking at all the new cards with an eye for modern. Some are nasty good like Anguished Unmaking and Second Harvest.

Veir could probably update it when he sees it.

I updated it with the new link. Thanks Jutsu. Gonna leave the video for now though, tell me if that's no longer the correct way to install it.

Anyways so what's you guys' favorite card? Mine is the Phyrexian Obliterator:

It's pretty much the same, oracle prompts you once you install; impossible to miss.

Oh dawg my favorite card hands down is Deathbringer Liege. Especially once I remake my modern b/w control deck. I mean, just read the text on this guy:
Image

Then count the fact that there's a lot of spells that are black and white simultaneously. It's pretty much begging to combo.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand here it is right now, needs to be tweaked after playing a few rounds of course. Maybe gimme some help here?

As you can tell it's themed: Deathbringer

Creatures: 22
4 Nightsky Mimic
3 Deathbringer Liege
3 Nip Gwyllion
3 Tidehollow Sculler
2 Athreos, God of Passage
2 Sin Collector
1 Ashen Rider
2 Angel of Despair
2 High Priest of Penance
text (Click to Show)

Spells: 16
3 Edge of the Divinity
3 Castigate
4 Unmake
4 Utter End
2 Identity Crisis
Text (Click to Show)

Lands: 22
2 Godless Shrine
4 Temple of Silence
4 Isolated Chapel
6 Plains
6 Swamp
Text (Click to Show)

It's not amazing or anything, after all it's a theme deck.

To Vorpal.

If you wouldn't mind, when SOI released you could replaced Utter End with Anguished Unmaking. Same effect and less one colorless mana but with the downside of losing 3 life. Since this is a lifegain deck, Nip and Mimic could easily get those 3 back for you, I'd say its a decent option.

So I think this is a beatdown deck? You could scratch out the Angel of Despair and Ashen Riders, they're so high costed that in the late game you might get screwed just casting them. Modern tends to lean on the midgame or early unless the opponent is hard control. Still thinking on what to replace them with though. There are only a total of more or less 50 black/white cards apparently and some of those arent modern viable. [Checked mtgvault :D]

You've got decent singleton removal already, all exile and three above costed. With the the Liege arriving at turn 5 above, you won't be able to turn the combo that fast yet, probably invest in some early spot removal for those that endanger you quick like say, Bone Splinters or Doom Blade. If you happen to pass through a player with a boardwipe, I'd switch out Identity Crisis with Ghostway, that way, your creatures literally dodge the wipe. Side pro? All the ETB effects like Sin Collector and TideHollow get to redo their effects.

For now, these are my suggestions that are open to scrutiny. :D

My favorite card still is Surgical Extraction. It lets me peek through the opponent's deck and ascertain what combos might be. Usually paired wit Duress on the first turn, I can list the hand and remove a threat while knowing the enemy.

If its a creature, I'd go for Invisible Stalker. I've made a lot of friends cringe at the sight of it, unable to get rid of the hexproof unblockable bastard. Fun. So much fun.

Thanks for the tips error blender, I ended up converting my Black/white deathbringer deck to more of a kill deck.
I made more cutsie modern themed decks, you know, because winning isn't that important. Really I just want someone to play with.

Illusions:
4 Jace's Phantasm
4 Thought Scour
4 Phantasmal Image
4 Krovikan Mist
4 Lord of the Unreal
4 Chronozoa
4 Mind Sculpt
2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
2 Jace, Memory Adept
4 Increasing Confusion
4 Ponder
20 Island

Phantasmal image can copy Lord of Unreal, think about it, really think about it. Phantasmal image become a self boosting 3/3 that makes itself hex proof.

Treefolk:
4 Treefolk Harbinger
4 Bosk Banneret
3 Dungrove Elder
3 Leaf-Crowned Elder
4 Dauntless Dourbark
1 Sapling of Colfenor
3 Timber Protector
2 Woodfall Primus
2 Green Sun's Zenith
4 Utopia Sprawl
3 Nourishing Shoal
2 Orchard Warden
3 Cultivate
22 Forest

If you're actually reading the card list, I'm sure you can figure this one out. It's a classic green style creature deck, with synergy.
Timber protector is off the chain, but I haven't really tested this deck yet.

Someone play this game with me, please.

Turned out that the illusion deck I posted ended up being pretty good.

I really liked your elvish piper combos a lot. Sure elvish piper can get burned bounced or black magicked, but it enables really cool big boy combos.

Not to mention it forces someone to use a burn, bounce or removal. It's something you can't ignore.

Also heh cuckatrice. idk who did it but I'm not changing it.

Ggs as always, didn't end up facing any more elvish piper. But that Warden of the first tree is an absolutely stunning card.
And here's posting this for archive purposes.

Modern Myr Lux Cannon:
4 Energy Chamber
1 Darksteel Forge
1 Darksteel Reactor
4 Lux Cannon
3 Myr Servitor
4 Coretapper
4 Myr Galvanizer
2 Unwinding Clock
2 Myr Battlesphere
4 Myr Enforcer
2 Myr Matrix
3 Buried Ruin
4 Urza's Mine
4 Urza's Power Plant
4 Urza's Tower
3 Palladium Myr
2 Myr Turbine
1 Gemstone Caverns
2 Gilded Lotus
4 Ancient Tomb
2 Myr Reservoir

Note: Can boost blindingly fast, but the whole premise is risky. Capable of some serious shit, but some times you're gonna run out of cards and not be properly set up. Top decking is all luck. Would never play it against a counterspell deck.

Imma bump this because of the new set: Eldritch Moon and the upcoming Kaladesh. Since this is a discussion thread, I think its okay to necro? I mean it is kind of better than creating a new discussion thread. Hit me with a violation if I did one and imma accept it. Sorry in advance.

So yeah, how are you guys? It appears Shadows over Innistrad took the Lovecraftian turn like I had expected and went with Cosmic Horror aka Emrakul. Shadows over Innistrad already was a clue to the LC twist [Shadows over Innsmouth].

Here's her new card and her twisted angel:

You guys excited? I am.

Kaladesh also promises a sort of artifact theme since the cards in MTGO about Chandra's homeplane were all about U and R artifacts.

I'm so hyped for eldritch moon omg. We're on my second favorite plane (Innistrad) with my second favorite creature type (Eldrazi) with a ton of planeswalkers.
