anyway, how is your sex life?

I did enjoy those sudden lines for their shock value. But like with you and the Llamas, I just can't sit through the fucking thing.

The movie just makes me angry whenever I think about it. Then I laugh. Then I'm angry again.

Wiseau did an AMA on reddit recently that was absolutely hilarious. he's like an alien who's trying and failing to blend in.

I just realized I also left out the original Wicker Man (1974) out of my Top movies list, and it is the last straw. Fuck this shit.

Please don't compare this to those VERY good movies, Kung Fu hustle might be one of my all-time favourites, another shameful oversight on my list.

Forgot about that one too.

Comparing this to either of those movies is like comparing Riki Oh to Kung Fu Hustle or Shaolin Soccer.

How are we defining Kung Fu Hustle as a good movie?

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, but probably not for the right reasons compared to enjoying movies like Million Dollar Baby.

Come to think of it, no one has mentioned Million Dollar Baby yet. That one got me hard. Slumdog Millionare was really good too.

City of God was good.
City of God Spoilers (Click to Show)

Every Ghibli movie so far didn't fail to impress at all; Spirited Away was one of the very little animated movies that made me feel like a child again. It had this really warm homely feeling to it. The Wind Rises moved me in ways I can't explain. A beautiful animated masterpiece.

Jackie Chan's older films like Drunken Master are great as well. The shots and choreography are very well studied and executed.

If we define a 'good movie' by a selected criteria universally, then there will be a narrow list. It all just comes down to individual taste. A good movie is something that sets out to do something for your tastes and achieves it. In my mind, Drunken Master 2 (another shameful oversight on my list) is a far better movie than something like Gandhi (which is a well-made, well-acted, well-written, well-produced epic masterpiece but was a total snooze-fest to me).

So it comes down what each person consider a good movie.

I think Mystic River is superior to Million Dollar Baby. I totally loved the first half of Slumdog Millionaire but it lost me completely in the second half.

And so begins the downward spiral of this thread.

Edit: I am once again consumed with disgust for myself at leaving out Werckmeister Harmonies by Bela Tar, and Ordet by Carl Theodore Dreyer.

I hated that movie with a passion. Ace Ventura 2 did everything that movie set out to do, but managed to remain funny.

what made you think of that one? they're not very similar.

when nature calls is another one that's hard to sit through in its entirety but the first hour or so is so damn funny. just one amazing scene after another.

I found ALL of when Nature Calls fucking hilarious. One of the few movies where I thought I was going to die laughing.

I mean they're similar because of styles, because of the 'so gross its funny' and 'omg they actually did that' type of humour.
