I almost thought you were serious and decided to rant against you. It was one of the most painful movies to sit through of recent times.

So, Jupiter Ascending is shit. At least it's fun to mystery science theater it with your friends and the animation is lovely.

I want to know what the more savvy movie/story goers think about this intelligence insulting plot.

I went in knowing no one liked it. It is what it is. Your average teen fantasy movie. Enjoyable enough to watch.

whats the point in liking a director? that doesnt matter if you like a movie or not, i dont know of any regardless.
nothing new coming out that is worth going to see let alone paying money for. its just been stupid crap one after another and nothing good has come out for a long time.

Fight Club, Pulp Fiction (its an okay movie), Reacher, and freddy movies.
not much film i like really. watching movies gets so boring after a while. i rather documentaries or something

I'll allow this bump since a few people have been talking about movies anyway in the chat thread.

So because you don't like any directors, you don't see the point in anyone liking a director?

Some directors have establish visual themes or directorial styles when making films, something which adds on to each film. For example, a Tarantino film is almost guaranteed to have smooth as silk dialogue and set pieces where characters confront each other in an epic way. It almost adds to the film to know it beforehand. Similarly, Sergio Leone always uses long shots, creative camera angles and epic music in all his movies, which establishes a "Leone" style. You could even apply this to Stanley Kubrick's constant exploration of dehumanization.

I normally wouldn't take issue with your statement, but you seemed to imply that it was vapid to like a director, and I'd like to point out that you are quite far from the truth.

Has anyone seen the Michael Bay ninja turtle movie?

I honestly thought it was going to be terribad. It's rather okay.

I couldn't watch it, especially after seeing the trailer and the character designs. I had the same impression of you that it would be terribad. Would you say the movie is still 'ok' enough to spend time sitting through it?

It is. He changed the origins a bit but I would say they're okay. He also took into consideration a few realistic things like the turtles being immune to gunfire because they're turtles! The plot though is mindlessly simple. Not like you expected a ninja turtles movie to be complex. Just put some evil ninjas, a corporation, and asskicking. Also the Shredder is not as bad (I mean terrible bad, not evil bad) as you would expect.

Mostly this is stemming from the fact that I (and you) were born in the 90s so we always thought our 90s Turtles were the best. But one day I acquired a DVD Set of that era and watching it, it was really stupid. Like, the select episodes that were badass paled in comparison. I would say that the 2003 TMNT (which I loathed for the longest time) turned out to be better and the more recent Nickelodeon version takes some getting used to to love but it's still ALL better than our crappy version.

I say watch it and get the nostalgia out

Yeah, the nostalgia factor would certainly boost the experience. As long as Bay didn't butcher it mercilessly, I think I might have a good time at it. Also... I was born in the 80s, but I grew up in the 90s so your point still stands.

Turtles... immune... to... gunfire... what. Lol thats a minor plot point, I assume?

Jurassic World has awesome set pieces, awesome visuals. But some parts of it really irritated me. The humans in the movie are really, really, REALLY stupid (I'm not referring to the scientists who created the monster beast, I'm referring to stupid sequences like the boys venturing INTO dino territory despite being warned not to do so) and the only reason the plot even happens is because at least 5 of the main characters have no common sense whatsoever, and act diametrically opposite to the way any one of us would act.

But it was visually terrific. I would watch it again just to mark out at all the sequences.

While I agree with you, I also think that the first three jurassic park films were based on people making pants shittingly stupid decisions.

Especially 2 and 3.
