Getting food when you're starving is much more important paying somebody 10 dollars... unless that person is going to buy you food.

But you must remember that what you're doing is not paying a police officer. but yes food makes the most sense

It's either spend a few hours before reaching home hungry with no money, or get thrown in jail for a few years but arriving with a meal under my belt. As good as a filling feast may be, I'd rather not let my greed overtake an easily avoidable sentence.

As much as I'm starting to question as to how I've ended up starving in any highly populated first world city/town whilst having money on me, I think a standard police officer or almost anyone else might be able to pick up on the fact I'm famished to near death.
Also, if I decide not to pay him or flat out ignore him, you think I'm just going to be let off on my merry way to go and grab a bite to eat?

I will now have you refer to the spoiler for notes

Humans, being organisms, would forgo all other necessities to satisfy its own physiological needs in dire times.
However, your situation is like forcing a Paladin into a lose/lose situation to commit something to make it fall.

if you starving like you'll die, how do you have the power to walk across the street? Wouldn't you just be laying around, moaning?

Hit the officer and buy some food before going to jail

I want to know HOW exactly you BUY the food if you don't pay the office. Does he just say "Oh you don't wanna pay? Off with you then." ? Isn't he going to crack you on the skull and drag you to jail where you starve anyway? At least if you pay him off, you have the option of crawling to a place with food and begging them for a scrap.

You can't buy the food even if you have 10, because you didn't pay the fine.
You can't but the food even if you pay the fine, because you don't have money.
What. This kind of question only works if it's like this:
Pay cop = no food.
No pay cop = food.
Both situations in having the similar outcome is pointless. lol.

I agree with Ai, and I don't see how not paying the cop = food in the OP's mind.

I interpret it as dodging the cop to run off and buy immediate food because you don't care anymore, you just want to stop being hungry.

Except I doubt a starving person on the edge of death can outrun a trained police officer, no matter how many donuts he has jammed in his gut.
