Community Made Game?

Think about this. What if we had a game made entirely by the community. For instance, the name would be decided upon by the community. Anyone could draw any resource (within reason) and ask to put it in as _____. (Some moderation would be required) At the end of the game, literally everything would like it was on LSD. There would be so many different styles and stuff. But as long as the actual game was fun, it might be kinda cool to try. Thoughts?

That would be fun. Sounds interesting. But who would start it?

Eh, I was thinking of trying to attempt this after I'm finished with Concussion. Still a ways away, but I was wondering if the community would be interested in general.

mashing a bunch of different art styles together sounds like a disaster. we'd need people to code and design the game first and foremost, if they're going to make an entire game from scratch they might as well work with a small group of artists who are just as dedicated as them. that's a lot of effort to put into something as chaotic and unorganized as this. in order to organize it effectively we need someone who knows how to manage and direct a very loosely organized team.
sounds like a good idea but you're asking quite a lot

The thing is though, mashing a bunch of different art styles together would kinda be the point of the game. 1 or 2 people would be in charge of PROGRAMMING and putting the game together of course, and there would have to be some sort of management system, but it would be pretty fun.
The only problem I can see is people losing interest before the game is done.

It doesn't sound very plausible at all. Tbh I don't think that the idea of a completely disjointed/artistically uncoordinated game is really that appealing to anyone.

As of always the case with projects.

Yeah. It's always the case of keeping interest.
@Drone: Eh, maybe you're right.

A better idea would be to make a Mad Libs with the whole community. That would be fun. Somebody asks for a noun or verb, and the 1st person to reply gets to pick the word.

True. Why don't you start one? :P

Not really, you've improved especially when you started noticing your flaws.Quote from Person McPersonI have a kind of an annonying reputation on the site. So probably nobody would join.
Anyways, another reason why people are reluctant on working is that they don't have the expertise to contribute to the more difficult parts of the program like game mechanics, which might change at a moment's notice.

You mean working on the game?
In response to your question, they would just draw something in flash and then send it to the manager and say: "Hey, I'd like this to be the _____ in the game." There would have to be a slight moderation so the entire game wasn't just filled with dicks.

This would be a neat thing to do, but the issue is
how big?
how big?

It would be like a small game of some sort. Say... a top down shooter with unlimited waves randomly generated or something.
Really kinda just depends.
