I was thinking the other night, and I started thinking about Life's most important questions, this may not be the most important one, but to me, it is. The question is: Are humans inherently good or bad? Now, I'm just gonna say it, I am a Christian, proud of it, and nothing you say will sway my beliefs, so, now that that's out the way, let's get back to business.
Approaching it from a modern view, people would say all people are basically good and heading a good direction and will eventually become our own gods blah blah blah... I've heard it all before, but for me, I say all humans are inherently bad, the basis of a person's thoughts are solely self-centered, we're not going in the right direction these days, with abortion around the world and other nasty stuff, I just don't see us going in the right direction.

So... What do you guys think? Are humans inherently good or bad? :?

Is being self centered inherently "bad", though? I mean, greed is a vital factor in the existence of most of the pleasures we experience.

I believe that humans are all focused only on the pursuit of pleasure and avoidance of pain, and differences in behavior is caused by outside factors that change our idea of pleasure. For example, generosity still brings pleasure to some people, while self indulgence brings it to others.

Im a proud christian too guys, and i honestly think that while we as humans believe that we are our own gods, and that we can do as we please there's got to be a higher standard for our lives otherwise we're no different than Hitler or Ceaser. So even though we try to get the upper hand, it never works cause you have someone underneath you who passes you up as well. And what's really sad is that most people dont realize is that at the top of the mountain of power God's already sitting on the throne watching us try to get to his position only to fall short. And im sure it brings tears to his eyes. To get to the point i believe that man given the opportunity will usually, not always, but usually choose the wrong decision. I also have a question to ask you guys, but reply to ignus' before mine! You hear all about people dying for what they believe in on an almost daily basis.But is it worse to die for what you believe in, or not and have to live the rest of your life knowing you didn't?:confused:

Us humans are born to categorize things and avoid things that we think is bad or painful. It's called evolution and survival of the fittest. Well sort of anyway. I believe that humans are naturally bad.

a) There is no such thing as good or bad, only what society has deemed good or bad, and what is conditioned into us.

b) Abortion is absolutely fine. In some cases, it is also hilarious.

c) Hitler and Ceaser were totally different people.

d) Christianity doesn't have much to be proud of.

e) If God exists, the only reason things like the Holocaust can happen is because he is an absolute cunt.

f) It is foolish to die for what you believe in, instead of living and trying to convince more people that you were right.

But yeah, there really isn't "good and bad". People just do what they need to do in order to eat and sleep in peace. Generally it tends to be the "good" thing, since it pays off to be nice to the people around you.

We're touching a bit on what is morality.


According to the definition, morality is held by a society or one person. It can differ between each person or society. Anyone can think murder is alright if he is brought up that way or that generosity a criminal the same way. It is a distinction between actions that the person decides if it is right or wrong.

A person cannot be bad and cannot be good. His actions however can be categorized as such but falls heavily still on what society sees it. Say cannibalism is bad in our community but in some tribes it is totally fine.

Except that those children are only one or two years old, and they undergo unimaginable pain until they eventually die.

Also, that dude and his broken ribs are full of shit. The whole thing was a ruse so that you'd fall in love with the church, and it worked. I'm sure that your children's service leaders really stoked you for it, and you went back to painting nativity scenes, but it's not true, homie.

Ribs don't get healed in one night. I feel really bad for you, because one day you will grow up and realize you've been tricked your entire life, and so have those you love. Its amazing how ALL church leaders and healers fail to recreate these miracles when they're being tested, or simply blame it on the victims when it doesn't work.
