Lol why is anyone even surprised that gildedguy didn't put sfx during the fight? He never does. Like, ever. In fact, i think the sfx during the skit was the first time he even used them at all. I also really don't see how people minus for lack of sfx, since it's really about animation quality most of all. Even though adding them does make the animation seem to have more impact and seem better, i don't see how people would minus specifically from the lack of them.

Again, you people think that "SFX = Better output" when it's not the case.
There are certain elements that require the removal of SFX to make the impact better (Black and White shows). Take this animation for example:
If you were to put SFX, it would ruin the whole mood and theme. It's just like saying "No Color = Worse". Just because a certain element is there, doesn't necessarily mean it could be better if it was added.

We all know who won.
Camilla's part was cool but Gildedguy just added a story and everything.
I like how camilla added like an rhg friendly thingy though

Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to discuss our anims!
But like Camila said, picking a winner really is not necessary. I spent several more weeks on my part than hers, and I don't even have an RHG page for my gildedguy.
Also! Why didn't I use sounds during the fight?
Because I am lazy! TBH, I dislike the process of adding sound effects. It's just not that fun, since I don't feel like I am creating anything.
Plus, it takes me forever to find the right sounds (I am verry picky, and I don't have much patience when sifting through large sound libraries).
Despite this, I admit that adding sounds to my anim improves it. It always improves the intro and outro (where there is no bg music). So that's where I focus it.
One can argue both ways whether or not to add it to the synced music in the middle.
Based on your guys' feedback, it seems like you all felt it was missing sounds, so I will definitely take that into account.
Btw, the feedback I would most like is on the writing, pacing, and story. Those are areas I wish to improve on the most!
Thanks again.

what?!?!?! Noooooo maaaannn. Dude I was saying that your music synching was enough already. Like, I bet even adding sfx to it would ruin the effect.

I never said that it always makes better output, since of course there's exceptions where it's better without them. What I'm saying is, in most cases, it's better because it makes the fight more realistic, and adds some impact, since you would not only see the action, but hear it as well. There have been many times that I've animated a combo and it just didn't seem too great until i added the sfx and it suddenly seemed better. It's one thing when you're talking about things that don't have sfx for style purposes, but try to imagine watching a Dragon Ball Z episode without any sounds except the bg music and dialogue. It gets boring pretty quick. But regardless, this is an RHG battle here. A non competitive one at that. I'm a firm believer that things like this should be judged mostly on animation quality alone. Actually, a lot of times, i not only watch the battles, but i watch them again without audio. So the sfx don't give me the wrong impression of how it actually looks. of course i still acknowledge the syncing, since that usually takes some skill. So no, i don't think "SFX = better output" but i do think "well used SFX = more realistic video in whole and more professional and presentable"

CnC on writing, pacing and story:
Writing was hilarious. Great story. Only a few parts that I thought were odd imho, and I'm not that great of a writer, so take my CnC with a mountain of salt:
In the middle where they opened the doors again and it became light, that was un-necessary and a little odd. How come they opened them again without reason? It wasn't like they were done fighting.
I don't know your RHG's personality, but breaking things to distract Cami so that he could grab his wep was kind of a cheap way imo (no honor), especially since it looked expensive.
The little bit at the end where he gave the last food piece to Cami was brilliant. I liked that touch.
Daz all I could think of off the top of my head. Again, marvelous job.

You literally just made "SFX = Better output" into a whole paragraph, you do know that right?
Also, you're going really far from my point here. I don't give a damn about your combo practices or DBZ, I was talking about this animation in particular.

You just HAD to use a Cyanide and Happiness cartoon, didn't you? But I do agree with you though.

OH. My. God.
Yes...
Both gave me hype I can't really choose. I'll watch both a lot more carefully.

Yeah, fair enough. I did stray from the major point. And that major point is... that regardless of sfx....
Glidedguy made cams look so dayum cute!
Like don't get me wrong, she's always cute, but my heart skipped some beats during that anim she was so dang kawaiiii <3

Holy smokes, that was awesome to watch. I think it should be a tie, styles are super different, and while one has very good "choreography" (Jade), the other has a super unique and invigorating style throughout the entire fight (Gildedguy).

It's official, both of these animations are going in my Greatest Links of All Time compendium. I'm also a big fan of how Camila managed to tie her part into Gilded's at the end, as if both animators' parts were part of the same canon rather than two separate outcomes. It's a really neat way to do a non-competitive battle since it was like watching a 2-episode series, so I'd have to give you guys kudos for that.
And Gildedguy... never in my entire time spent at SP have I ever seen somebody use a style like that before. Bonus kudos for you. ^w^

Best fullbody animator on SP.
