Nathaniel stood there stunned, his hands frozen in their motion of wiping a plate down and all that could be heard in the empty kitchen was the water running from the faucet splashing down. Resuming the task at hand, he took the plate and racked it, then wiped his hands on the towel hanging off the side of the cabinet before finally turning the sink off. Nathaniel grabbed the wraps he made and as he walked out the door he turned off the lights and shut the door, it autolocking behind him.
He walked out and looked up to feel snowflakes land and melt on his cheeks. The cold sensation seemed to break him out of his stupor and a stupid smile spread across his face as he rubbed a drop from his cheek. He walked back home in the snow, ignoring the oddity that it was snowing to begin with. Back home the house was empty, he checked his phone and saw that he got messages informing him that they were staying over at a friend's. He put the wraps on the refrigerator and washed up, heading to bed. Nathaniel laid in his bed, staring up at the ceiling as he mulled the same thought over and over in his head. She kissed me... does she like me? It was plausible... perhaps... she did say thanks before... thanks for what? Coffee? Doubtful. He had no idea and he covered his face with his pillow at the thought that this girl might actually like him.
