You just really need to improve on everything, it's not half that bad for your first ever animation, but.. well.. just make sure to practice enough, don't be irriated if you suck at something, the next time you try it, you'll notice it's already better :), think of what your 'style' is (the way the characters move), and try practicing this style, like... try running (the way you want your character to run (it has to be realistic, but you still can have your own touch to it)). make the character run in one spot, and make him do 2 steps:
1st step : left arm swings forward, right arm backward
2nd step : left arm swings backward, right arm forward
this way you'll have a proper looping animation (press: ctrl+enter, in case you dind't know) then look what you don't like about it, and redo the animation and try to fix it :), and don't get irritated! be pleased with your progress, but be motivated though, it can ALWAYS be better ;)!
also try using different tools to make animations, I personally like to use a smaller brush (http://www.truploader.com/view/515455), I use a tablet
some people like to use the line tool,
other's like to use a really thick brush or pencil tool
also you MUST use the shortcuts buttons, it'll be alot faster :)
Brush : B
Linetool : N
Pencil : Y
Eraser : E
Selection tool: Q
Rectangle tool: R
Oval tool: O

just keep practicing :)

Thanks Fairytail, I guess I'll get better with enough practice. And thanks for the shortcuts too, they're making things much faster :D

Nice, I think the last fall was a little too fast though.

Edit: I think I'm rusting as well. http://www.fileize.com/view/d0e5f391-a39/

Good for a first, but the way he kept on running, looked weird/unnatural.

Oh, nooooooow a bunch of people come to this thread..... When I tried leaving my animation(s) here, it would be like 3 days then another fellow beginner would just post his animation. It's good to know at least it's coming back.

My second animation, a walk loop. I decided to go with line instead of brush this time with the help of Creative's tutorial

First ever animation:
http://www.fileize.com/view/9dda7a8e-1cd/

Not finished yet, but I'll get to it.
Constructive criticism welcomed.

Not bad for a first animation. Nice background and stuff, but you should do some more basic stuff first, like easing, ball bounce, stuff like that.
Don't do effects and jumping and all those. Look on some tutorials for basics.

Nice. But he shouldn't stop at one point in mid-air. Yes, he will reach a point where he has reached the top and has to go down due to gravity, but he still has to go forward while stopping and going down.

First animation? Not bad! Nice stick construction and everything. But don't go on running yet! Try some basics like easing and ball bounces. Once you have mastered the basics, then you shall move on to walking and running :3

About your tweened walking, I can't really say much because I don't tween. And that's Creative's tutorial so you should ask him for tips, as he tweens everything and that's his style of animating!

Here's some of my recent animations. Constructive Criticism is always welcomed!

Scar's right, tweening's one of the styles you can go for, but it's not highly recommended. Nor is it recommended in the first place, to be honest.

There are other styles too, like Line, Pencil, and Brush. Most commonly used is brush. Some users prefer Line. And some actually use the Pencil. It just depends on which you feel comfortable with. If you like to have clean strokes like in line, but you prefer brush, just increase the smoothness to around 40 or 50.

I'm a beginner too, but I'll just share some of the things I've learned along the way. I use brush at 40 smoothing. 30 is much more recommended though. And Scar uses Line.
Here are some of my anims too so you guys can get some brush styles, and maybe get some easing tips.:

(yeah the strike lines are awful. I was trying something out and it pretty much failed miserably. Mind them if you like the idea, don't mind them if you don't.)
