Trying to commit suicide at 7?
What did he do, try cutting himself with Stickle Bricks while listening to Bob The Builder on his iPod on full volume?
A problem with a friend

Quote from sonofjayWell his dad IS in prison so that may have something to do with it.
And his mom doesn't really care about him.........and a few other reason that should not be discussed on SPP :p
My mom was in prison from 1997 to 2003. I turned 9 during that period of time, and I was born in 1991, and during this time, I lived with my aunt because my father was killed in 1994, and admist all this, I never "turned emo", despite me being a major mama's boy and extremely sensitive.
Does he actually refer to himself as "emo"? If so, he's acting that way because he's looking for a social group to be able to identify himself with. Its possible that if I was aware of the "emo" subculture, I could have gone through a phase of identifying with them and counting myself as one of their numbers, but luckily I already identified with the "nerd" crowd, and never caught wind of the "emo" subculture.
My point is that people tend to adopt the stereotypical behavior of the groups they wish to identify with. I was more open to wearing glasses as apposed to contacts and I even bought, though never wore, a pocket protecter, with the idea that it made me "more of a nerd". (Note that this was when i was in 4th or 5th grade, and first becoming aware of social division)
Also, what makes him think that he is neglected by his mother? Many children tend to think that way around that age, especcially if they have peers who say the same about their own parents.

I do have lots of emo friends here in Alaska. They all have gone through something pretty horrible, they only have one parent...I really do pity your friend, because he will eventually hit an artery if he keeps cutting his wrists. He should really see a shrink.
He is really 9 years old? People are growing up to fast these days...
