Eh...back in my early days, the rank system was a HUGE part of Stickpage.....well now, its not used. At all. I personally think the rank system should be brought back. It really brought some structure to this community. Now animations seem to be really.....I don't know, people just don't try as hard. That's why I just want to see who in this community agrees with me. The rank system brought competitive animating to those who wanted to be evaluated. The reason I think it got out of hand, is people made up the subranks. That really ****ed ranks up. If it was brought back, it would be based on the 3 main ranks. Beginner, Intermediate, and Veteran. I thought it was a great idea, and no one uses it anymore. Vote please.

I too agree with this.

The Rank System was actually one of the most useless and annoying things on SP. IMO anyway. It's useful in Pivot, but not for Flash and Eztoon and other free drawing programs, as you can use different styles, whereas Pivot is fixed to one style. It also let people rely only on 'ranks' that others give them, instead of actual C&C. Instead of people saying 'work on ___ and ____ and also _______ needs more easing etc' they'd just have an excuse to be lazy and say 'borderline low high med silver eight thousand nine' or whatever they're tyrying to say.

BUT..

It brought competitive kinds of animation which made people try harder, so there's one good reason.


It also brought flaming. When people were claimed 'Veteran' they'd say "LOL U NOOB U SUK IM BETTUR THAN U!!!!!!!!!!!" which made things worse.


So really I think the rank system should be left behind.

Your right about that, I was looking at the pivot section when I thought of this, though, I could see it in the easytoon section also. Just because I was at Easytoon Place so, I really think I'd understand the best. They judged you on the actual animation, not your style or drawing ability.

ranking is gay and is just personal opinion. one might think an inter is more of a pro, and vice versa. its also a shitty way of reviewing someones animation, just saying a rank instead of commenting on their animation(s) and giving tips or shit on how they can become better, rather then throwing "beginner faggot go to beginner thread"

Well....not really. You weren't here when ranking was used a lot. Really when I sucked at animation, I was constantly trying to get a rank higher, therefore I was animating more and contributing to the community more. Still, you guys are taking the downsides. On easytoon place it was easier because it was a smaller community, and all of the mods and admins would move your thread to the inters or vet section once you ranked up. They all decided. Here, it's harder, but it was still a good idea. By the way Nodd, you really don't know what it was like. It is different. There wasn't arguments on whether or not to get rid of rankings or not until, they created subranks.

I actually think everything would be great with the rank system. But it needs to be good, not noobs saying ''VETERAN, PRO ULTRA'' w/e shi.t And sub's are needed. Its gonna take a while from a person to go from int to veteran. So they wanna know where they are. So low, med, or high (A.k.a close) but people will screw it up so yea..

It will make the compitition hotter, and people will work harder to increase, but it can create fights and stuff.. so Idk.

i did really know what it was like, because i was here during the days of ranking.

ranking worked with the previous spp community. now, everyone here at spp is mentally retarded. it's stupid and pointless. if you want feedback on your animations, post 'em. game over man, GAME OVER

Fights are good, it encourages creativity and makes you work harder to come out on top.

not to mention, people ranking other people highly because they're friends with that person, or ranking others lowly because they dislike that person.

Then there should be a rule, like 3 people ranking every animation, so there won't be too many biased results, or 4, or 5, or how many you deem fit.
