Money buys prostitutes and mail order brides.

See where I'm going with this?

It can also buy vaginas in the shape of a flashlight.

I would say that you could buy happiness to some point. For example, you really wanted some kind of item but didn’t have the money to get it, and then you win the lottery and buy this item, your going to be very happy until you start to take it for granted. Then it begins to get boring and your eye turns to something else. It seems to just be a constant cycle of entertainment to make you happy.

But things that money can’t buy will make you happier, although, these things seem to happen very rarely.

So my answer is yes to some point.

Depends on what type of person you are. Because happiness is only what you make it to be.

This.
You can buy things to make you happy, but that'll wear off. All pains & pleasures are temporary, and when you an discover this, then you will truly be happy.

I was just about to post this, couldn't agree more.

Say you buy a car that makes you happy right? Then you have no money to buy gas, then you're sad, so then you get money and now you can drive it again, you are once again happy right? Well now it's broken down and you need more money to fix it, once again you are sad. You are now stuck in a cycle, and for the rest of your life your happiness will be dependent on material objects. Which is not true happiness, it's a kind of hollow happiness that must continually be filled. With this materialistic view you will never ever ever be always happy. So how can one be always happy? Well don't base you're happiness on the things around you and create your own happiness.

To those who saw well the people in africa aren't happy so it must be true, well there is also mass genocide famine and disease there, and it is all because of money that that suffering is there. well money and power. Besides who says they are all miserable? Have you personally met with each one? In every documentary I've seen there are a lot of smiling faces, but how is this possible? They have no things to make them happy. No cars, not electronics, no ipods. Anyways if money buys happiness then why was america (when we had money) one of the most depressed countries in the world. We had doctors giving out prescriptions left and right.

If you base part of your happiness around material things then you will always be on the search for better and shinier things to make you happy. You will never be satisfied with what you have. You may be happy yes, but not always and not to the fullest of what you can be.

Try telling people that pain is temporary to chronic pain sufferers.
