flash is only free if you pirate it. And it's an opinion question on which program is better, easytoon or pivot.

Why don't you try out Pivot or Easytoon for yourself to see which you think is better? I mean, it's not like choosing the "wrong" software will open up a chasm in the space time continuum completely obliterating the universe, you know.

Simply a preference.
If you want to redraw each frame, choose easytoon.
If you prefer tweening, chose pivot.

Key codes cost a dickload of money btw.

Easytoon imitates flash more so than pivot, but both of them are nice programs and accomplish what they strife for.

Pivot is not an animation program, its an abomination.

Therefore go with EZtoon.

There is no free version of flash available. You need to purchase the most up to date version, which is really expensive, or use a KeyGen. You are new so I don't reccomend either. Start with easytoon to get the concept of frames down and use Pivot to easily practice movements. You can get Pivot 3 Beta and EZToon free of charge, look for a link in a Stickied Thread titled "Animation Programs". It'll be in the 'Show Off' section.

Wow, can't believe my post was deleted. But seriously, pivot is fast, easy and sucks. EZtoon is long boring, but can kick ass.

Um boring? Using any animation program will seem boring if you're doing it right.

In my opinion, Easytoon is better. Pivot is good for learning the basics of physics and movement, but Easytoon has much more freedom in the case that you can actually draw. In Pivot, particle effects of liquid effects (blood, water, etc) can be tedious because you have to make several .stks and move them around in order to make it look right, whereas in Easytoon, you just draw it. I don't really know why people say Easytoon is harder because you have to redraw every frame. The way I see it, it's less of a hassle than Pivot because at least you don't have to rearrange every individual limb on a character in order to move him. Pivot users, don't get me wrong. I've seen some pretty great Pivot work before (like this one animation I saw limped create), but an Easytoon animation at it's could easily beat a Pivot animation at it's peak in terms of quality.

In short, Pivot is good if you want to get the basics down and just want to animate stick figures, but with Easytoon, you can really accomplish some mind blowing stuff.

There are no tweens in Pivot, Mayn! Only moving objects around to make an "animation".

Out of the two:
Pivot is best for learning motions and physics.
Easytoon is best for drawing frames, and making more simple detail in your animations.

Flash is just better overall. No contest. :3
