Wasn't it a kickstarted project? Did it even get enough funds?

Yeah, got more than what they needed, 800k how much they collected, I think.
With that, I'm just waiting for the release of the first episode.

I'm looking at the Under The Dog Kickstarter page.

Their minimum goal was 850K. Second goal was 1.16M. Fifth goal 5.1M.

24 min episode. 850K MINIMUM. mfw.

They addressed this issue on the first update when they said that they had more production value than other similar projects like Little Witch Academia 2 and Kick Heart (they got called out by fans of LWA 2 and KH apparently lmao), and while I do admit that the trailer does look spectacular, I can't help but notice how a big part of it is all the flashy 3D and the filters that make it just super Hollywood looking. They sold themselves on the first update by saying they want to make their dream become reality and how they don't care about TV anime quality in Japan, but honestly looking at what they made, it looks like they were just aiming to make bigger bucks by focusing on overseas market and breaking into Hollywood. I'm not saying that the core animation is bad or anything, their marketing strategy just seems kind of disingenuous.

To those who haven't seen it.

The animation quality thing is debatable, all I can say is that the animation in the trailer is deceptively standard, meaning that there's a lot going on that distracts you from the fact that the animation isn't really anything special. Quality wise, the subtleties in the background work and effects are top notch, and the cg looks pretty well done, but honestly I'd rather see a LWA2 over this, seeing as the first one was just so good. Either way, I don't expect to see this any time soon, wouldn't hold my breath.

I just started Yokazura Quartet yesterday and realized the character in Drone's sig was Ao. Juggling Death Parade, Fate/Stay Unlimited Blades and Nisekoi with it. Any other anime I should look into while I have a month of free time?

I agree that the core animation itself wasn't really "all that". I said it was Hollywood-ified because what made it look good were the video editing and the visual effects, and the mood and feel that they chose to use is something I'd expect out of a Michael Bay film. It really would have been fine for me, I mean after all maybe the team behind it really are just trying something new. It's just how they presented themselves in the first update to lure in the backers rubbed me the wrong way, especially with how they compared their work to LWA 2.

I probably will watch it though still.

Yeah. And if you want to know the feeling of watching The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan while still watching Melancholy, you can just go ahead and watch all of Endless Eight. The only difference is that Endless Eight still focuses on best girl, thus making it automatically better.

Also I'm pretty sure LWA2 is already in the works
