Unless you have someone to talk to about it then I think Another is not worth it. It never really comes up anymore in conversations.

But then again it's just one cour so if you're really curious then go for it. It's not completely terrible but it's a little stupid.

It has a decent atmosphere, but the plot overall is kind of silly due to how sporadic it is. Think of it as the anime version of Final Destination.

I'd watch it just because it's pretty well-known.

Do you think Final Destination is silly? Just the first one. Assume non of the trashy sequels followed

Clarification: Assume you watched FD for what it is, is FD 1 in its purest form like Another?

Ultimately it depends on how much time you have and whether you want to risk wasting your time or not. Sometimes people might just want to watch stuff that people meme off of or experience a show and learn why it doesn't work. Or form an opinion for yourself so it's easier to join into conversations. Etcetera.

Same reason why I might tell people to watch The Room if they ask even though it's an objectively terrible movie.

If you elect to watch something else, I wouldn't complain lol

I guess there's certain things I will watch based on the hype and popularity, but only once I feel like the initial glow has tapered off. Like one punch man.
I don't want all that biased I read online on reviews and stuff to get in the way of me enjoying the viewing experience in a fair way.

Sorta like how I waited a year or so to get into game of thrones, and I'm glad I did because if I had watched it with my expectations set to elite level I woulda been a bit let down at parts. But since I watched it with a neutral mind set, not expecting a flawless product, I enjoyed it that much more.
And I enjoy things more sincerely that way as well.

I've actually never seen the entirety of FD. I'm just comparing based on what I've seen and how people regard those movies.

Bunch of violent deaths that happen for mostly no reason besides some minor plot enforcement. Some people die in really ridiculous borderline hilarious ways.

Then you are comparing Another to FD 3-5. The ones that sold out.

FD1 was not made to be hilariously glorified. FD1 had its share of ridiculous deaths, but they were all played for horror instead of "OOOH HOW IS THIS ONE GONNA DIE NEXT". And there was an overlying theory formed as well as how to stop the threat. And it was logical. FD2 built on this and padded even more to the supposed lore. The first was suppose to be an X-File episode originally so the slower pace made more sense.

So to clarify: Another is more FD1-2 or 3-5? If it's like 3-5, then I agree it is garbage. If it's like 1-2, like the reason the deaths were happening made sense and the lore made you think then yeah I'd give it a try.

Somewhere in between. Like there's lore, and it's possible to get semi-invested, but it's still kind of ridiculous.

You can read the manga if you don't want to watch the show.

I just caught up with Akagi. Holy shit.

If I didn't know how mahjhong worked before, I surely know more than enough now. It's insane how the author prolongs ONE session of SIX matches in what is practically 3/4s the manga. Fyi, the Anime only stopped after the 4th match. So, that basically means that the 5th and 6th matches are roughly NINE VOLUMES LONG. That's like 2 more volumes of dragging out longer than an average BLEACH fight scene.

And yet. It works. So many things has happened. So many twists and turns. And you know, half of those aren't even based on anything but luck. It doesn't feel cheap like the finale of Gamble Fish. It's for the same reason the Slot Machine arc of Kaiji worked so well. Drizzle, I would read Akagi even if you know shit about Mahjong. In fact, after sticking to Akagi these past few days, I went back and read the Mahjong arc in Kaiji and it was waaay simpler and made much more sense to me now.

The only thing amazing about the sousei no omyouji is the beautifully animated OP imo.

Dropped the manga a while ago, so I don't know the difference.

Super Super SUPER recommend Redline. If not for the show, simply for the animation.
