i was so tired about hearing about all these noobs saying "oh i can play this on expert lol!!!11!!' and i decided to start a side project of making a guitar hero controller ino a real working guitar, with six strings, pickups and everything. if any one has any ideas, questions, or comments, just tell me in this thread.

Do you actually have the slightest idea how to work this? It's going to be pretty damn hard to make the strings act like the buttons and also, I highly doubt you could compare it to a real guitar then. It would just be about grabbing and playing the right string, not at the right position.

no, what i was thinking about was gutting the guitar controller its self to make a real guitar, but not to play the game. and if all else fails, i might just take the smaller shape onto normal wood and work with that.

a waste of time, im telling you.

so if someone claimed that they got a double kill no scope in halo you are going to give them a sniper rifle to do it for real?

Nothing is a waste of time when it comes to creation.
If you're making something, then it's even if it leads to nothing, it's an achievement to finish. So the time wasn't wasted.
I say go for it. It'll keep you busy.
May be fun to do.
Does CoD4 count?
I've dun dat shit.
Edit:
I don't see why it's such a bad idea. He's attempting to make a guitar from a plastic controller? It probably wont work, but there's nothing wrong with the initial idea.

Seems to me like the cheap plastic controller wouldn't be able to withstand the strain of guitar strings. Not only that but it's far smaller than a real guitar so if you're attempting to actually make it into an instrument with real tuning, you're going to need to find a way to scale down the frets and space them to get something resembling proper intonation. With that comes the problem of the pickups, since the strings obviously wont be spaced as far as real guitar strings and may not be properly aligned with the pickup. You may even need to start working with custom electronics.
And that's just a few things, there's a whole hell of a lot of things you're going to have to consider if you're serious about this.

the plastic breaking on this project is a problem for sure, but i think i am going to put a block of wood inside as a brace for all the extra tension in the body. like i said, if all else fails, i might just use the shape for a light travel guitar.

I doubt that you will finish this. I mean you need at least some knowledge into the way guitars work to make one. And who would want a guitar made out of plastic? Search around, this has prolly been done already. And Like The pirate said, What if the plastic case can't withstand the strain of the guitar strings?

Are you so retarded as to actually try this?

@ MoD, yes. yes i am.
@ Quake, in my last post i explained my idea to get around the strain problem. i will just put a block of maple or some other wood into the body to hold the strain. also, i will just do this for fun. retarded as it seems, i think it will be a fun process, even though it might not work.

Oh dear god. Oh dear god. I think I'm going into shock.

ONTOPIC:
Its doable I imagine, I know people who have made guitars into guitar hero controllers, but no vice versa. you might have to reinforce the next of the guitar with wood or steel in order to stop it from snapping. So long as you don't obsess over this and you have the parts, I think it'd be fun to make.
EDIT: I also imagine that the final guitar wouldn't be that great of a guitar but it would be pretty awesome to play a gig with it, lol.

What kind of pick-ups will you be using? And what about the fret board and all the electronics? Do you have somewhere you can buy that from? and better yet. Do you have the extra cash to buy those electronics.
