In all fairness, connotation and denotation are subjective to their contexts. It all depends on the environment. Use of the word rape as ass kicking or curb stomping isn't exactly Politically Correct. But this isn't a P.C forum so #dealwithit bro.

I know that getting offended by somebody saying something on the internet is petty and useless in itself, but having a friend that has been raped really changes your perspective on it. I don't care when its used in the sense of "destroyed" or "beat up", but when somebody actually uses it in the sense of forced sex as a joke, that's when I have to restrain myself from retaliating.

No it doesn't. My closest friend got raped, and while it did bother me for a little while, I quickly realized that the word isn't any more damaging than it had been prior. The only difference was the fact that I had become angry about it.

So, I stopped being angry about it. Because you can't stop people from saying words.

Anyone can be raped, not just women. That being said, you are offended by what you want to be offended by. Think of it this way, if someone says "I totally raped Stone with my RHG". Do you think that they meant "I totally forced my RHG's genitals onto Stone's genitals.". No, they didn't. Anyway, I agree that it is commonly used, but you are the person who reacts to it. If someone makes a rape joke and you don't like it, the way you deal with it is what defines you. To sum that up, if someone says "Punch me right in the face! :D" And you punch them, you can still be arrested. ._.
