In the Link of The Day section you're supposed to link to something crazy. This belongs in the general discussion forum.
If you're trying to lose weight keep in mind that weight loss is 80% nutrition, and you have to burn more calories than you consume. The easiest thing to do is at least 45 minutes a day in zone 3 cardio, but you should also strength train as well. The more muscle you have on your body the faster you burn fat. If you go to a gym, you have to challenge yourself. A good 80% of the people that go to the gym only go so they get the feeling that they're doing what they need to, but in reality almost everyone that goes to a gym is just as lazy there as they are in their normal lives. If you do what I do and decide to work out with the most bad ass personal trainer ever, then you have to be willing to reinvent pain every day of the week, as that's what's going to get you results.
Diets don't really work, you have to be willing to change your lifestyle. Typically when someone diet's, they will start to splooge and reward themselves after they lose maybe 5lbs. You will end up just putting the weight right back on.
Oh yeah, and drink 2 ounces of water for every pound of body fat you have. Since were composed primarily of water, the over consumption of water will help clear out and salts or anything that may already be in our bodies since salt retains water which means you could be holding a lot of water weight.

Firstly, Muscle is heavier than fat, so if you are really just trying to lose weight, then disregard this.
Ask a trainer or doctor how much exercise you would need to get stronger, now double that. You should be fit after 5 weeks of that, if you are consistent.
Drink lots of water. That's it. :)
or you can just do as Arch says, which is equally as good. and yeah don't diet. My mom does that and it doesn't do much. She is one of those self-rewarding people.

1. Stop eating fat product. 1 gram of fat is 15 calories that you need to burn.
2. Start working out. At least 3 days a week in training sessions of at least one hour. The best exercises are a combination of cardio and weight training. Weight training will convert the fat you have into muscles, you will look better but your weight won't drop. (muscles are heavier than fat). and cardio will only burn fat, but keep in mind, with cardio you need to train 30 minutes before your body actually turns to burning the excessive fat!
3. Stop drinking soda and stick to drinking milk and water.
4. Profit!
I used to do only weight training thrice a week, and in total I gained about 10 kilograms! But I didn't look fat, I only became more muscular. While it is hard to get some sort of a six-pack (which I want) when only doing weight training, I started thinking about the best way to lose fat and train muscles. now I'm doing these intense 30-min kickbox workouts where I need to constantly do combinations or push-ups and sit-ups. I've been doing this for over half a year or so and I feel a lot more confident about myself and my stomach is already showing a 4-pack!
There is one downpoint to these kind of workouts. If you want them to work you HAVE to diet. I try to just eat less fat and drink water.

This is one of the most important points if you are really serious about losing weight. Becoming healthy isn't something you can just work for for a couple months and then you can stop and then you'll stay all nice-lookin'. You have to do it forever.
PS: I think you meant splurge, Arch ;)

Also, products that have tags like "less fat" or "no calories" typically tend to be even more unhealthy than the original product.
I read a book called Eat Food, Mostly Vegetables, and they said that was the ideal diet to have. Vegetables is self-explanatory, but the "Eat Food" part refers to avoiding things like processed foods that, with technicality, aren't really foods.

A lot of fat-free products are higher in sugar or calories than the regular product. He didn't say "whole milk has less fat than skim milk", and whole milk isn't even unhealthy.
if you're going to post just to belittle someone instead of contributing to the discussion, at least understand what the fuck you're talking about.

He wasn't belittling me, he was agreeing with me.

He said "whole milk has less fat than skim milk". sounded pretty sarcastic to me, since it obviously doesn't.

Run around all the time and eat less shit. Problem solved.
Don't take my word for it though. My body shape doesn't fluctuate from perfection no matter what I do. So as an extremely genetically gifted person I can't really say, because my lifestyle would probably lead me to be obese if I had someone else's body.

Dunno about fat, but some studies show that skim milk isn't that much healthier than whole milk so I wasn't sure if he was sarcastic or not.
