From what I glanced (PM'd) from Hewitt, you can vote for yourselves to be included in the ranking.

So I’ve got to start this off by saying that most of these entries do not scream “Children’s Story.” At least IMO they don’t. It seems like everyone took the Once Upon A Time requirement and nixed the battle like they were told, but continued to write their pieces in battle formula. All of the Children’s stories I’ve ever read or have ever seen have like 1-16 lines a page describing that page’s picture for ages 0-9, and easy, plain plot descriptions with simple dialogue for ages 6-11. Now, of course you don’t have illustrations to add to your entries, but there’s an obvious flow in each that can be matched without artwork. And that on top of the length of some of these… I can tell you now; if I was given a book when I was a kid and it was longer than Where the Wild Things Are, I would almost immediately lose interest. Just saying.
I am reading each of these as if it’s my cousin’s birthday and I’m looking for a book to get her as a present. She’s 9. Here are my CnC’s and the ranks will follow after.

Shoot. My votes are all near 8 except one...
And about the participants voting, do we or do we not include yourself? Because I know I want to go on and I'd rate myself in the top 4 in hopes of being in the next round.

Thats exactly why people debate whether you should include yoirself in the ranking. You shouldnt just vote for yourself foe the points. You really have to take a good look at your work and make a ranking. Like, i think id be around 4th if i CnC'd myself

You can rank yourself, just rank "fairly" accordingly. Hewitt says he has a system to work with the voting of ourselves anyways.

Well, I do think I did a good job and though I don't deserve #1, I do think I'd rank myself as about 4th or so. If it counts, here's my rankings:
Birtdog-1 Because Birtdog's was really good. I liked the style and technique he showed in his. That is why he got first.
Nikx- 2 Nikx made a really good entry. I liked how you made it like a child's story. It was good enough for me to rank it second.
Gamer- 3 Gamer has a long and great entry. I can tell you put a lot of effort into your entry, which is a good thing. The style was also very good.
Ty/me- 4 I gave mine fourth. My reason is because I put a lot of time and effort into that. I tried to do my best, and I hope you can tell. I did not deserve first, though I do think I might deserve getting to the next round.
Boomerang- 5 I liked Boomerang's because of the way he made it play out. That earned him fifth, though I hope he does good and is proud of his work (he should be.) Your technique was also good.
Codincx- 6 I gave Codincx a 6. My reason is that your story was very good, though I don't know if it deserves to be in the next round. I think you probably put some time into that, but I don't know if I think you should pass (in my opinion.)
Shadow- 7 I gave Shadowkirby a seven. The reason for that is because it was good, but it was unfinished (I think). Also, since you made it a poem, I liked that.
merich1- 8 I gave Merich an 8. I did that because I did not enjoy his story. I had some problems with it and it's style. Also his technique bored me. This wasn't last place-worthy, though.
Canis- 9 I gave 9 to Canis Majoris. My reason is because it was highly unfinished. I don't think I could put one paragraph any higher in my rankings. I definitely don't think there was enough effort in this one.

@Ty
There are two things i disagree with you there.
1. Effort taken has no bearing on how well done the story is, and should not be used as a factor for voting. This is especially since you'd have no idea who (save for yourself) has put in more effort than the other. For all you know you may have put a 'good' amount of effort in yours, but Boomerang put a 'massive' amount of effort in his. Does he deserve to have a higher ranking than you?
2. You've seem to imply that unfinished stories is also a factor for their rankings, even though I recall something along the lines of 'vote on what we're given'.
Tl;dr I doubt you've ranked yourself very fairly, and you haven't given an appropriate analysis as to why you deserve a fourth place, both good and bad points. Save for the fact that you put ''time and effort" into the entry, both subjective and highly debatable.

Good pts Lobo.
Just popping in to say that despite the rankings being subjective, worry not. Me and acute will also be skimming the ranks and ranking them ourselves. But well after you guys do to prevent bias.

And because of this i have decided that i will not add myself into the voting. Im pretty sure i will have bias becausevits MY work.

@Boomerang
It's natural to be bias. What's important is that you understand the flaws and the good areas of your own work, something that you should be able to judge best, and then compare it to others to determine which place you should go to. So long as you can properly justify your place, that is, why you would be at that exact position and not higher or lower, there is no problem. My reason for objecting to Ty's ranking was because he was being ridiculously vague about his rank; effort is no method to judge a work.

On my break at work and I just finished reading all the stories. Ill put up my votes and some CnCs later in the night. But ill start by saying this: I am profoundly disappointed in a number of these. If I could tie people for 7th or 8th, I would.
