Finally figuring out Vel'Koz.

A lot of popular champions are good against him. Namely Leblanc, Fizz, Yasuo and Zed. Leblanc and Fizz not being quite as absurd as they used to be since DFG was removed from the game. The game above was against Leblanc, I was first blood as laning was really rough. The second death was from trying to push her tower quickly and getting ganked, but I got the better of her with Vel'Koz's insane farm abilities and took her turret. Speaking of his farm, I out farmed everyone, his wave clear is really something to behold. The farm bought me big items, the big items delivered me to kills since his scaling is really quite good. It also allowed me to out level everyone too.
Granted, this game was against mostly bronzies.

Also, I had to give up on the idea of just rushing big damage with him. As Rylai's scepter and Liandries torment are great on him. I get the feeling his ultimate procs the passives multiple times too, as well as working well with every single ability he has. Giving him some more bulk and magic penetration also works really well.
I'm fond of home-guard on this champion, even though I usually don't like it. As it allows me to quickly get back to lane and clear waves, which compliments teleport.


Here's the build order, as you can see I'm quite fond of vision control.

There were a few situations once I got items, that I was like...what? That killed them? I blasted LB with my ultimate in lane and she used her ult to get away, but Liandries burn killed her. Another time Teemo flashed on me and was chasing me into my jungle, I was just throwing my abilities at him skillfully but desperately trying to get away. When suddenly I earned a shut down on him.
He's so squishy, sometimes I forget how powerful he can be.

Very interesting champion, very fun champion.

Uh, Liandrie's burn can't kill. It does % of current hp, meaning if they are low it will do 0 damage a second.

Meanwhile I'm playing in the jungle and mid lane mostly, I'm trying out ap nasus mid and it is hilarious

I've had a lot of success with Aatrox lately, also tried Gnar as he was free. Gotta say Gnar is not that bad, I used to hate when the enemy top lane plays Gnar against me but now I'm going to keep an open mind about new champions. Same goes for Kalista, it was almost as thrilling as playing Teemo full AP, getting triple kills and shit. Aatrox for life though, with Aatrox I've learned to adjust my laning style to any type of top laners I get to the point where they end up getting frustrated. Also if you need a jungler I'm your man, Vi all day

Aatrox is a strong laner because of the sheer amount of sustain AND burst he has, the only real way to beat an Aatrox is with your own burst, and tops don't usually have that.

Also, who here misses DFG
