i have an idea for the infractions system.

every infraction adds, say, 20 seconds to the time you need to wait between posts? i dont know if this is possible with vB, but i know its possible with punBB. i think this would be a very effective way of making people think twice about their posts, no?

i quote myself, because i think this idea really isnt bad.

Tid, that's a great idea. I don't think it's possible with VB, I feel like I remember someone else suggesting that a while back and Zulu said it wasn't possible.

it would be definitely possible if every infraction moves you to a new member group which has certain restrictions, because you can set the time between posts for individual member groups.

Can I be different and list bad ponts for Tidds idea?
Y'know, so it can be fair?
I mean, take me for example, I have two infractions, though I hardly ever flame (much), however, for one month, I'd have to wait 40 more seconds between posts, even though I wouldn't need to think about what I'm writing.

This wouldnt really bother me personally, but someone who posts tons and is a fairly good member would get anoyed by it.

Part from that, I like it. :D
IMPLEMENT NOW.

Often enough for us to need an automated lock system? I mean, someone has to work for every change that happens here.
If it's a problem that rarely occurs, and when it happens, it is fixed in a minute by mods, then it probably ain't worth the work?

It's not like it happens every once in a blue moon. And I'm only suggesting this to make the modteams jobs a little easier. Because it's not just that the noob bumps the thread. Right after that, a bunch of members come in and start yelling at the kid because he bumped the thread, giving the mods more posts to delete, thus making their jobs harder.

This is why I hate being the only dumb shit on a forum full of smart people.

Patronisation of me must stop :(

But seriously, what if some guy lost his cool, as I am known to do, gets infractionated, and then gets a time penality for something that was pretty damn rare/

EDIT//
DW is a much better example.
And lover.

Then you should learn to control yourself.

I have pretty good self control, I prove it daily in the Pivot section, the first time I flamed, people genuinely thought my account had been hacked.

You know, I really think that some of our older members need some sort of recognition. I mean the ones who were around back before the reset, but maybe also the ones who were around a few months after. I mean, really, Skate has been here since near the begining, and he doesn't have Honorary Member status, or maybe Vetern status? Zulu should give them a color, like Red or something.

Oh, no, oh no! No! Please not another new color to the forums. I think it would be way better if every senior here becomes purple. But not red, it's not as if we needed another new color so finally nobody can still understand them.

@ Deathwish: Well, you did something to earn them. And it's not like someone who spams shouldn't be punished because he usually acts nice.

I asked for them, not earned them.

I dislike the colours, and I'm older than both BS and Ash, I find them to elevate people who do not need it.

It's like respecting someone for post count.
