I was talking to Naimad and Org.
I know Naimad for a fact is probably talking out of his ass and has no clue what an actual Christian environment is like. It was in relation to the whole "homosexuality isn't a sin" yet every church I've ever been to has disagreed.

I am Christian and have gone to the CHurch. I haven't ever said that "homosexuality isn't a sin" nor commented on that specific topic.

For example I wouldn't say I have faith that 1+1=2, instead I would say that I believe that 1+1=2. Because we know for certain that 1+1=2, all the evidence in the world suggests that.

(Possibly minor) technical issue here: 1+1=2 by definition, regardless of what happens in real life. It's a consequence of *made up* logical axioms that just happen to be useful in the real world. Even if you sat an apple next to another apple and then there were three of them in front of you, 1+1 would still equal 2, because 1+1 is what 2 means.

Why in the nebulous fuck are we talking about the deeper machinations of 1+1=2?

I understand 1+1=2
I do, I really really do bud.

No no, faith is much harder than belief and it's much scarier. Faith would be claiming certainty of something that empirical evidence doesn't fully support or even contradicts. True faith is usually without belief.

But in essence faith is more about letting go of what you "Believe".

Faith isn't so harsh an action to 'claim' something without hard evidence. It's the simple act of believing something with one's own heart (I'm a romanticist, big whoop, wanna fight about it?) to the full extent of whole hearted trust. I have faith that 1+1=2 because I trust the math in that equation will never fail. Having a Faith doesn't imply you don't believe there is a chance, however minute, your Faith is wrong, it's trusting it enough to let it lead you blindly.

And there's no way I can believe that being a lesbian is a sin, or wrong. What's more beautiful than two women making love?
Except perhaps two women making love with a bit of me right there at the end.

This... was... beautiful. xD A little splash of humor crossed with fetish and way of life. LOL

I've reread it. I insist that Arch is probably talking out of his rear and has no clue on wether or not I know what a Christian environment is like. I do, btw.

If you have faith that that empirical evidence is wrong then you don't "believe" it.

I must respectfully disagree.
But I can see where you're coming from.

Because you mentioned it as an example of something related to evidence and belief, but it isn't. Also I like math.

My age has nothing to do with this conversation. Why are you interested?

If I tell you you're going to deflect again and the chances of you lying to us are probably going to be greater.
I want to know if I should get in my van and come see you.

just to clarify, Adultery in most sects is a Sin
Homosexuality is not a sin just like having an Anti Social personality is not the same as killing a person, Murder also being a sin
Homosexual Actions is Adultery, but that does not mean you can't be forgiven for it
Christianity purports a lifestyle of not sinning, but it is more important to go to heaven which only requires having faith in God and asking for forgiveness. According to the Bible, Sin is practically unavoidable.

"good" is subjective, Christians believe that being Christ like is more important than being good because its strangely an objective good in that it is clearly defined.

faith is defined as believing in a higher power or divine will, rather than belief which is understood as the mental action of accepting something as true
therefore faith is just belief in a higher power
however, belief is not based on empirical fact, its very easy to belief something that is factually incorrect.
Faith is a square, Belief is the rectangle group.
