I decided to fuck it and pick up a new laptop battery and charger for my outdated Inspiron 1720 from Amazon. A 9-cell battery (better than my current dead one) and a charger cost total $30-ish including shipping, which is actually amazing. Even if they each only last a year, I could keep buying these yearly for 10 years and it still wouldn't equal the cost of a new laptop. I can squeeze a little bit of extra life out of my current laptop until I decide to upgrade, and I'm pretty happy about it.

Just got paid $60 to write a 3-paragraph paper. And $200 for designing a logo for someone's major project.
