That taste one's a pretty legit opinion though. Personally, I've liked everything Skillet's done since the Collide Album, and they have a really wide range.
They did get pretty deep into religion with the Rise album so I can understand how some people might take issue with that, but even with that album you kinda have to give them props with how all the songs lead into one another.
We never had a music thread because the last "Official" music thread was basically people posting youtube links and not saying anything about it. Basically, a Sacred-song thread but for everyone. And I fear the same thing is going to happen here.

I skipped like 5 pages but this made me giggle.
ZZ Ward is really good and I don't know many people who know who she is.
Also motherfucking Freebird is the best shit that was ever made. Anyone who disagrees with me is a commie.
Also what are your favorite OST composers? My top 3 would be Hans Zimmer, Steve Jablonsky and John Powell. But lately they haven't made any new work and I'm in search of more orchestral music like that.
"Take me to Church" has a ridiculously deep meaning and criticism behind a seemingly harmless love song.

"Take Me To Church"
My lover's got humour
She's the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody's disapproval
I should've worshipped her sooner
If the heavens ever did speak
She's the last true mouthpiece
Every Sunday's getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week
"We were born sick" you heard them say it
My church offers no absolutes
She tells me "Worship in the bedroom"
The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you
I was born sick
But I love it
Command me to be well
Aaay. Amen. Amen. Amen.
[Chorus 2x:]
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
If I'm a pagan of the good times
My lover's the sunlight
To keep the Goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice
Drain the whole sea
Get something shiny
Something meaty for the main course
That's a fine-looking high horse
What you got in the stable?
We've a lot of starving faithful
That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work
[Chorus 2x:]
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Offer me my deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
No masters or kings
When the ritual begins
There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin
In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene
Only then I am human
Only then I am clean
Ooh oh. Amen. Amen. Amen.
[Chorus 2x:]
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
The criticism of the churches idea of love is actually amazing the way he does it. There's a video on his actual thoughts behind the music video and lyrics.

I don't really have rank list for these OST composers, but I like the works from Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Harry-Gregson Williams, Ramin Djawadi, James Horner, and somehow Daft Punk (their Tron Legacy OSTs are somehow mesmerizing. Here's one of their works that I like the most). Steve Jablonsky's Arrival to Earth used to be my favorite, and John Powell's How To Train Your Dragon OSTs are as awesome too.
Oh and Cami, if you're really wanting to look upon those kinds of orchestral music other than those three, then try to search those composers' names that I gave the bold formatting. You might gonna find what you're looking for. :3
