The problem is that a lot of glorification also has the opposite effect. It ends up making fitness freaks look like self-absorbed douchebags. It needs to be done properly, in an almost, happy way. It doesn't help that most bodybuilders and gym-freaks are among the stupidest people on the planet, and people don't want to be associated into that club.

So it's McDonald's fault that people don't have self control?

Bah, McDonald's is a light-weight here; I blame the vegans. By trying to live healthy, they have inspired us to do the opposite! Fact!

Quote from ShadowolfI totally agree with you, Azure. Well said, and an excellent point.
To address Arch's question, being 310 at 5'6" is not healthy, but it is also not leathal (necessarily). It is not within the range of obesity that would indicate a terminal condition (due to fat alone). I'm not saying I am fine with it (like I said, I am at my perfect weight, and would recommend and gladly help anyone to do the same), but I'm saying that I don't need to get in your face about it, so to speak. If you are 510 or 610 at that same height, yeah, (considering I'm on the local rescue squad) I'm gonna give you a serious talking to, especially considering I will probably be seeing you in my ambulance sooner or later.
310 at 5'6 is way above healthy. Take a look at a BMI chart if you want to see the weight you should be at generally. That's literally a little under 200 pounds over healthy weight.

300+ at 5'6 is fucking terrible.
Do you know how much strain that places on your joint?
Shit, I'm starting to believe that if you're under 16, and your BMI is above 30, your parents can be held liable. It's pretty much being an accomplice to heart disease

I'm about 220 lbs, and I'm 5'9. I exercise regularly, eat irregularly, and when I last requested one, I got one of those body scans that said my fat levels weren't really dangerous. I'm still obese according to the BMI, despite being in increasingly good health. Hell, I doubt I'll ever drop below 210, and that's overweight.

Do more cardio, and do more compound exercises to burn fat. Also work out while fasting for a few hours to burn stubborn fat. It's easily possible to drop your unwanted weight. Try work out regiments because they usually do very intense and specific exercises. But ya.
BMI really does matter, despite it's strict standards.

It's a flawed system, which has been proven by both the medical and nutrition communities, and I posted links regarding it being flawed on the first page. While I don't think it should be removed, I do think it should be revised.

I think that being fat Is a very serious Issue for some people...It not only prevents you from doing physical perfomance as well as It would lead to many deceases. I'd advice people to do a walk for at least half an hour everyday.

as i see it this whole thing people call fat shaming is more of fat people getting told they should work out so they dont sound they ran a marathon everytime they walk up stairs and the fat people getting mad because they themselves wont accept they are fat. its more of a suggestion for them to fix their health and they throw it back like its an under cooked burger

Most definitely flawed. But, it's a good basis. You shouldn't strictly rely on it for anything specific, but trying to find out your general target weight and health is easier with BMI. You can figure it out on your own as you go along, or see a nutritionist at some point.
