What are some of the apps and games you use most on your phone? Got any underrated games you want to share? I feel like the app store is kinda like television: you have so much to choose from but sometimes just can't find anything. I'm always looking at the top lists and nothing looks like something I'd want to play. It would be cool to get some discussion around the subject, I'm always on the lookout for unique things to play while I'm in the bathroom.

Here are my recent favorites:

True Skate is a skateboard app where you use your fingers to flick a 3D skateboard around. It's a good idea well executed and looks really good at max graphics. It reminds me of those tech deck toys I used to use when I was a kid combined with a Tony Hawk game. Super easy to pull up and no commitment needed any time you need to fill 5 minutes.

Monument Valley is a great mind bending puzzle game with a unique style reminiscent of M.C. Escher. It's probably my favorite game of any type in recent memory, even though it's for mobile. It's a meticulously crafted piece of art and one of the rare times when I felt compelled to devote my full attention to a mobile game. I imagine it would be good for occupying your brain on the go, but I just couldn't leave a level incomplete once I started. If anyone has the money I highly recommend picking this up.

Monument Valley sounds awesome.

If anyone here is into wrestling, Wrestling Revolution is a great game, along with Booking Revolution (where you get to be the owner of a Federation). The same guy also made a game called Hard Times which is a sims-type game except you're a convict in prison with wrestling moves lol Also, he made School Days, which is the same thing except you're in school.

Stair Dismount is a fun one for wasting time, you basically just shove a ragdoll down flights of stairs or other various heights and watch them tumble.

10000000 and its sequel You Have To Build A Boat are very fun, especially the latter, it has too many gameplay elements to fit into a short synopsis so just check them out.

I think everyone's heard of Pixel Dungeon but it's my favorite roguelike on mobile, definitely deserves a mention

Deep Loot is an underwater treasure collecting game, basically collect treasure -> spend money on upgrades -> dig deeper/get stronger -> collect better/more treasure but if you like games like that it's a ton of fun.

Trivia Crack is a great multiplayer trivia app

It costs money and requires a tablet but if you have both, Jet Set Radio is fucking amazing. Might need a controller but the touch screen controls aren't bad.

Badland has incredible graphics and very simple one-touch gameplay. So does Smash Hit, if you like throwing shit through windows definitely check that game out. Badlands might cost money, I can't remember

If you like crosswords Shortyz is great, it automatically downloads puzzles from the major newspapers

Alchemy is a neat little game, you start with fire, earth, water and air and combine two at a time to try and discover new elements. Like fire + water = steam, steam + earth = geyser, stuff like that.

If you like tower defense games, Tower Defense by Com2uS USA is a good one

aaand finally World of Goo is about the best money you can spend on a mobile game.

I'm a bit of a pleb when it comes to mobile games, so I've only got 3.

Deemo
A piano-based rhythm game that has a subtle story behind it. It revolves around a strange being that plays piano, a girl that fell through a window, a mysterious masked lady, and a tree that can never send the girl home. The music in the game is just amazing, and there's enough free music to keep some satisfied. Additional tracks can be bought, and with the different difficulties, it's got a decent addictive quality. I like to play it because I'm a sucker for rhythm games, and used to be on the leaderboards when Tap Tap Revenge was still a thing.

Retimo Adventure
Basically an MMORPG that revolves around having cute chibi characters. There's a storyline you play through, as well as PvP, where you pit your group of characters against others. Apparently, the PvP is pretty damn strategy based, and can require lots of grinding for the perfect combination. Personally, I just use it as a time waster and I think it's kind of adorable. Money can be put into it, but it's really not necessary if you're willing to just put in the time.

One Finger Death Punch
A stick game where you beat the shit out of other sticks with kung-fu. Kind of freemium, but again, you can just put in the work. Personal time-killer, and somewhat rhythm based. Really required concentration, since button mashing will get you fucked up. Survival is basically their competitive mode, and I've just made it into Advanced Brawler. Probably won't stay up there, but hey, it's a nice game.

phone games are inherently scrubby so you might as well go full scrub and only play flappy bird.

No, you're right. They help pass the time though when all your job consists of is sitting in a room with 8 other people not doing shit for 7 hours.

Vector, a parkour-based 2D game where you use your finger to jump, slide, and do cool parkour moves in order to escape from your hunter. I'd say it's pretty addictive and I'm currently waiting for the sequel to come out.

I can't stand a day without using SoundCloud. It's my favorite music app ever with tons of free musics that satisfy my daily needs. Even though internet connection's needed, but once I loaded my fav music to the end of the line, I can use it offline so that I can repeat the music whenever I want. :D

Since I played Brain Dots on my aunt's phone, I'm thinking to download it on my phone soon. It's a puzzle game where you should make two separated balls (red and blue) to meet to each other using lines/dots/shapes you make with your finger. I think it's fun, and imo it's a way to challenge your creative mind. Would recommend.

Asphalt 8, my holy favorite 3D racing game. Steer your wheels, do the drift, and turn on the nitro through cool arenas and weekly challenges. Most people tend to complain about the constant update it has, but me still likey. Would recommend.
I like how it's so close to console standard quality, imo (Click to Show)

Lol Index, it's fine to me though XD Chick Can Fly used to be on my addictive game list too where you control a chick flying vertically in order to avoid those suppressing pipes. It's actually a Flappy Bird rip-off for the first look, but not much of a rip-off imo since it's easier to obtain high score than Flappy Bird 'cause you can stop the chick's movement mid-air.

omg what have you done jeff. prepare yourself

Space Marshals - www.pixelbite.se/pbsite3/?page_id=7841
3rd Person isometric shooter with precise aiming and lots and lots of levels. There are elements of stealth and action, as well as bosses and TONS of weapons and items. The game runs off a Star-unlock system where you unlock more gear for completing objectives, making it super replayable.

Alto's Adventure - www.altosadventure.com/
Very beautiful endless runner and the last one you'll ever get, probably. It's a simple mechanic of snowboarding and grinding on rooftops while collecting llamas...or is it. Saddled with the game are 60 objectives; all of which are unique and not just harder longer versions of previous objectives. Each 10 levels unlocks a character who will play differently. Some can fly, others jump higher, others slide faster. And the final character....I won't spoil it. Art-wise the direction is amazing. We're talking Monument Valley levels of detail and quality. From the tiny *chnk* sound your board makes when you land on the snow to the fact that your shadows are cast irregularly at various heights, it's the little things that make this thing work so well.

Bean Dreams - www.beandreamsgame.com/
Solid, colorful, puzzle platformer where you can only move left and right and only by jumping. There are physics puzzles but most of them are based on dexterity and reaching a certain platform within a certain time or within only a certain number of moves.

King of Dragon Pass - www.kingofdragonpass.blogspot.com/
It's an oldschool PC game ported for mobiles. It's a sim/cyoa kind of adventure game where you play as a tribe who must propagate themselves by making hard decisions and allocating resources. There are a ton of stats, random events, and freedom to explore anywhere. Not for people who don't like losing---its the kind of game that requires you to read alot of text and you will definitely not get it until after a few trial and error games.

Dark Echo - www.darkechogame.com/
Minimalist horror game where you play as a white splotch who must attempt to traverse the black sewers and caves while avoiding the red splotches. That synopsis may sound derpy to you but it's only because the game is more audio-based. Every footstep produces sound waves that bounce and once a red splotch has heard you, it won't stop until you sneak away. It has over 30 levels and the pacing of each is properly placed, with new mechanics every 3-5 levels or so. Reccomended play with headphones as the claustrophobic feeling of isolation is a unique experience in the dark.

Nameless: The Hackers RPG - www.box-cat.com/site/games/nameless-the-hackers/
A rather old-school, tongue in cheek RPG game about hacking. There isn't much of a strategy or story involved but for some reason I could not put it down. It was also one of the first ios games so yeah. Its chock full of references and could've been polished better, and it's a little on the grindy side especially after the post-game.

Adventures of Pip - www.tictocgames.com/adventures-of-pip/
Action puzzle platformer where you play as an 8-bit pixel who has been imbued with the ability to change into a 16-bit kid and a 32-bit hero. You're on a quest to save a princess from Queen Derezzia who does exactly what she's called. Naturally all 3 forms will be required to traverse the levels and beat the bosses. It's got 5 worlds and roughly 10 levels each with weapon and item unlocks. I just love the subtle racism with this game; 8-bits are often looked down upon for being too simple. Platforming's also solid but a bit on the hard side as checkpoints come few and far in between.

94% - www.94-percent.com
One of the current casual "4 pics 1 word" games, 94% is essentially a solo version of Family Feud. There'll be a topic and you gotta guess what most people think that topic is. Very addicting and has 99 levels.

Alchemic Dungeons - www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtLO6RRfPQg
It's Terraria meets Legend of Zelda. Traverse the land in an overhead view RPG and collect useful loot that you can use to craft shit. And there is a ALOT of shit. If you've played Terraria, you'll know how this game feels.

Find the Line and Shadowmantic
www.findthelinegame.com
www.shadowmatic.com
2 recent puzzle games concerning "form the object" as a theme. The former has lines. You have to scroll through them like a radio until the proper form comes into shape. The latter is about shadows. You need to manipulate a 3d object until said shadow takes form. In addition there are also "secret shadows" that are hidden in the game such as the "Alien Llama". Fun.

Calculords - www.calculords.com/
It's a math/collectible card game/hero defense. You collect cards by beating people and use math to summon them. Takes awhile to get used to especially if you're not a math nerd. Also extremely grindy but the variety of cards more than makes it worth it. There's also online pvp I think.
