Minutes later, Bee jolted awake to the sound of a falling vase. Looks like they have company.

Drizzle, a fresh recruit from the MAS agency, had multiplied by ten in order to make it easier to search the house. Bee knew his master's modly powers granted him regenerative abilities, but time was the enemy here. It had to stall.

The clones came one by one through the only doorway leading to Devour's location. They stacked up against the opening and one of them opened the door. Inside, the pale white moon beamed down on the broken glass skylight to find...an empty bloody floor.

"Subject is lost. I repeat, subject is..."

Drizzle One's sentence was cut into a gurgle of pain. His hands rushed to his throat as blood continued to spirt. Drizzle Two rushed over to help but tripped over a precariously placed rolling pin, falling face first into a standing piece of glass. The Drizzles began to panic as they ran around like silly little girls, arms flailing and all as Bee worked under the perfect cover of darkness to act as Devour's personal pet assassin.

And when the Drizzle dust cleared, there was only a bundle of crumpling bloody bodies like a vampire orgy came to town.

"That's a good be, Bee. Now, time to kick some---"

Devour disappears into existence.

10 minutes ago

Across town, Dipi sat down enjoying his Ravioli. Raising his hands to compleient the chef, he began to dine when the doors flung open interrupting his special moment.

"Lord Dipi. Forgive us." Drizzle Quintillion plead. "The MAS has been decimated, we are turning to the Hopeless as a last resort." He stepped forward sheepishly, carrying a very special box---a jewel case of the most exquisite detail. But the pain of his brothers multiplied by a quintillion as his body dropped right then, his carcass landing just on top of Dipi's dinner, spoiling it. And the jeweled box popped open.

It was a pound of Mod Flesh.

Dipi picked up the sacred totem and unhinged his jaw. The restaurant patrons fled for their lives as Dipi's head tore open at a 90 degree angle and darkness engulfed the room. Within a few minutes, the Pound had disappeared into the depths of Dipi's diet. He looked at his watch and counted the minutes down.

A slick gentleman walked in as if right on cue, nonchalant to the disarray that lay before him.

"Hello. I just got a call from the higher-ups that a Hopeless has acquired a ModSoul. I was so excited, I had to come down here and see it for myself. Can you imagine? I told myself the chances of a Hopeless succeeding was...astronomical. And yet here I am."

The cold sharp tone was not inviting to Dipi's ears. He was not flattered at all. But he knew better than to take on the MAS. The Hopeless' shaky alliance was beginning to crumble and now he does the unthinkable. A power vacuum for dominance began to form. He considered running. Past Zero? No, his backup might be waiting. Out the back? Yes...he can lose them in the alleys until Devour's time is up.

"The chances of me coming alone are slim. But. The chances of you making it out alive is even less. Thirty-two, I might add."

Dipi disappears back out into his own kitchen, making a quick break to the latch to freedom.

"By the way." Zero continued to speak, seemingly uninvolved with his task. "Did you know that 85% of all restaurant related accidents happen in the Kitchen. Specifically, because the floor is wet."

Dipi makes a wrong turn, his foot slides on a bottle of toppled detergent.

"Of these accidents, a minimal 5% have been self-inflicted. But since you're an idiot, that's an increased 50% risk."

Dipi slips, his hands barely grabbing the countertop's edge just to maintain his balance. Unfortunately, it was also where a knife set precariously stood. Dipi cut his fingers instantly as a numbing blankness overcame him.

"Can I have a smoke?" Zero asked no one. He paused to turn around, lightning his cigarette and walking away. "They say smoking kills, but only at a fraction less likely than suffering third degree burns. If you saw the news, you'd know that 5 out of 10 fires are started on purpose."

Dipi continued to stumble, knocking over a series of cooking oils until he finally had a good grip of the latch. Except it wasn't a latch, it was the gas line.

HISSSSSSSS.

Before Zero took a puff from his cig, a rain droplet wrinkled his nose. It was about to get heavy. "Shame, the forecast did say that Rain was unlikely until after past six. Guess I was just lucky." He tossed the cigarette behind him as the oncoming wind blew it into and along the kitchen floor.

"Polls say that having an explosive finish, increases dramatic appeal by 100%."

Sure enough, it did.

Devour disappears into existence.
