Older members will remember when Myself and myself ran one or two threads where we'd play a game of Dwarf Fortress, give our dwarves the names of SP members who signed up, and take screenshots + tell the tale of their adventures. This is basically what I'm doing, but in the game Rimworld ;)

Oh, and I have a zombie apocalypse mod running. That's cool too I guess.

There's not much to this if you want to join and watch the events unfold. Just tell me what you want your character to be, and some information on what your character's like.

He's a soldier.

After going through the character creator, the backstory and personality tools are hella expansive. I decided to take away the 5 word personality thing so you can be as detailed as you like ;)

I'll swoop in as the custom. I'll throw in two different designs.

-A Pseudo-Scientist. Somewhat related to the virus outbreak, knows how to solve it and where to find a cure. But he's amnesiac, so memories will come back with time. Make him about 45. Competent in crafting and weapon use, but he'll probably be of secondary impact and just act as a doctor. His true personality is firm, convinced and decisive, but given the amnesia he is now shy and fearful.

-A Scout. Ex runner and climber, doesn't have many other qualities besides his speed, agility and ability to climb. Decent in hand to hand combat. Will do most of the work for the group when it comes to moving safely through the wasteland. Personality wise, he should be a bit stubborn but not too much. He will accept suggestions, but decline direct orders. Bit of a clown, can't really take situations seriously. Against zombies he always feels safe because of his speed.


I personally pref more the 2nd one, but I threw the first in there as well. Feel free to change sexes as well.

It begins.....

On the outer reaches of mankind, this Rimworld is an unnamed planet that has long since been forgotten among millions of others. It's here that advanced technology has been forgotten, and the world lives a modern life not unlike the life we live today.

Unfortunately, it also left this world completely unprepared for the release of a zombie virus upon this planet's population.

It was something from another world, made with strange technology. People infected by the virus would raise from the dead, not rotting, not stopping. They do not know what pain is; they only know to wander across the world, finding and killing all humans they encounter.

This group met each other entirely on accident as they left their homes to make a new life in the wild. Azure, Error, Dakota and Max all hail from these modern worlds, but the outlier is Aquila; a large and intimidating figure clad in power armor and armed to the teeth. He is a space marine from the central worlds where technology is amazing, so what is he doing here?

Nonetheless, he needs to survive and he has agreed to work with the others.



The party discovers an abandoned house made of stone in the middle of a forest and they decide to make that their starting point. Their next goals are to build a new home and to secure their shelter and safety, but it's only a matter of time until the zombies find them once more.

Dakota would like to search the stone house that he's in for anything that may be useful and equip it.

I've gotta get geared up before more of those shambling freaks return!


Wait....do our characters auto pilot now?

For now this is more of a story I'm telling you guys, but as the base goes on I can ask what you want to do next. There will be plenty of moments where important decisions need to be made.

They had rudimentary shelter, that was good. The soldier checked the clip of his battle rifle. Along with the ammo check he did an all around gear check, making sure nothing was damaged and taking inventory on his possessions. Now that they had a shelter, they would need the second essential, food and water. He turned on any scanner that he was equipped with that would detect lifeforms, be they heat signatures or heartbeat or movement monitoring.

Naturally, it almost immediately started raining as the party unloaded all their stuff. The highest priority became building a storage room so all their food, clothing and supplies would not deteriorate in the rain. And that stone house wasn't nearly large enough.

Errorblender was observing the surroundings. "You know, we're standing in a place with excellent natural defenses," he pointed out. "Why not build up against the mountains and expand from there? That will make our storage and bedrooms the hardest to reach."

The others shrugged, unconsciously turning to Aquila for confirmation. "Sounds good." The soldier rumbled. "You guys do that. I'm going to hunt down something fresh to eat."

Conveniently, an amiable raccoon wanders by. Aquila doesn't pass up the chance for an easy meal.
"Taste imperial lead, motherfucker."



RATATATATATATATA



Azure yelps and jumps back at the unexpected kabooms of rapidfire. "Jesus christ!" Offscreen, Dakota Freedom jumps out of the way, nearly walking into the spray of bullets.



"Bogey down." Aquila picks up the corpse and examines it.



Looks delicious.

"Umm... guys?" Dakota was wandering the pitch black darkness of the bedroom area, trapped. "You forgot to build a door out of here you idiots!"



As the first day draws to a close, the group sleeps in the only place with shelter from the rain, uncomfortably huddling to give warmth to their rain-soaked clothes.

Day Two:

By the end of day two, the party's stronghold almost began looking kind of cozy.



Aquila, Max, Dakota and Error built an amazing amount for a single day's work, and Azure planted an entire field of potatoes single-handedly. Trees were chopped down, light was lit, and the foundations of this home were set in place. There was still no sign of zombies.

Now if only the damned rain would stop pouring.

Edit: Man, does anyone know if double posting is a problem anymore since we dont get post count in the General Section? I want to post lots of updates tonight but I dont want to compile a shitload of events together before being able to post it all.

As a fellow enthusiast of martial arts, it was only natural that Dakota would become attracted to Max. She was fit, smart, incredibly fast, and pretty much just as dangerous as he was when it came to a fight. They got along wonderfully as they built a new home together, always having conversations that left them both laughing, making this doomed world feel worth living in again. He felt within himself that he didn't just like her as a friend. He knew in one deciding moment that he wanted to call her his.

"You know, Max..." Dakota said to her as they were eating dinner together. "The world is fucked, but it would be dumb to let that stop me from living my life. I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't take this opportunity now."

Max raised an eyebrow his way, wondering.

"What do you think of giving us a shot? We're the two most kickass people here."

Surprised, Max turned away, blushing despite herself. "Us? Do you mean, like..."

Dakota nodded, grinning.

"Ah... Well," she fumbled, "I like you a lot, but I couldn't do something like that. Not now." Firmer now, she met Dakota's eyes apologetically. "One of us could die some day soon, and I don't wish that pain on either of us."

Silently, the man met her gaze for one last moment and turned away, staring at his food. "I get what you mean. Sorry."



Day 9:

The initial supplies are running low. Thankfully, Aquila is more than willing to annihilate... er, I mean hunt some more meat.

Day 10:

Ten days into survival, things were going almost strangely well. There had been no zombie attacks, Azure's crops were nearly ready to harvest, and things were only looking up from here. Errorblender managed to construct a research bench for developing power for the base, and power would allow them to refridgerate their food and provide them warmth for the winter. So what could possibly go wrong?

On their own, a woman had found this party's base. She was desperate for survival, entering their territory regardless of the dangers. By luck it was Max who she found first, and after a short while of talking and okaying it with Aquila, the party unanimously agreed to let her stay.

All except for Errorblender, who had been stationed at his desk for the entire time.

When the party gathered to introduce the new girl to him, she and Error stiffened as if shot, glaring daggers into the others' eyes.



"Even in the end of the world I can't escape you." Error muttered.
