can someone please explain to me what "pure atheism" is?
for some crazy reason I thought there was only one level of atheism.. unless their are some protestant atheists
Is pure Atheism a paradox?

It's the difference between "I know there is no God" and "I don't believe there is a God."
Atleast, that's my understanding of it.

Really, atheism by definition means "I believe in no God", not "God Definately doesn't exist".

Quote from Dragon⁰⁷⁷I've heard that argument, but it works both ways.
1. To claim that you know that there is a God insinuates that you have the knowledge that he does exist.
2. Therefore you must have access to all information.
3. Therefore you are omniscient.
4. Which going off our definitions of a God and the one that Atheists use to disprove God via paradoxs. You are now God.
5. So everyone who claims this is God.
6. That makes no sense, as supposedly there is only 1 God (according to the Abrahamic religions)
7. ...
8. Profit!!! (sorry)
So, both make no sense. Agnosticism (sp?) ftw
No. don't even argue against it Dragon, his point isn't valid. Let me explain why...
..nevermind, looks like many people beat me to the punch.
Atheism is the belief that there is no god. I don't think any Atheist can truly and honestly tell you they know for a fact that there isn't. If you hear someone say this, just remember they are an idiot.
edit: and there is no such thing as pure Atheism, if someone told you that, punch them in the face for me.

Im Catholic, I have never said god does exist... I just believe he exists... Believing and stating are two different things.... Paradox failed?

You're a bloody idiot. Dragon wasn't actually stating that there was a paradox, he was stating that if the paradox that Steyner proposed were true, then the same paradox would have to be true for the religious as well.

Don't we have a satellite(can't remember the name of it) up there right now that has found energy given off from the Big Bang, the thing that disproves God?

No way man, I learned about it in Physical Science.
It's real. I'm almost positive.

Nope. Maybe it catches glimpes of solar reactions, but not the big bang.

Maybe...I don't know. I'll find out and tell you tomorrow.

There is only one thing not really right.
How would you have to immediatly know everything, to know that god doesn't exist.
Seriously, you may know that god doesn't exist and still don't know how to make a sandwich.

Because knowing that god does or does not exist requires omnipotence. Otherwise, it would mean that God did a bad job of hiding his existence.
