I believe we should. It made it a little more magical for me, and I honestly can't see how it could harm anyone. What are your views?

Also, inb4 "Santa is real" or "Santa isn't real?!!?!?!?!?!"

I'm around children a lot. Considering I have 3 Neices and 4 Nephews, and I live in quite a close family in the aspect that I have to see my sisters and their kids every ****ing day. However, with this in mind, I think Children should definately think Santa exists.
I wish I still thought he existed, just because it made Christmas seem really special.
It's like a magic trick. Once you know how it's done, it's just a trick.

i'd love to think santa clause exists, and i dont think theres any valid reason why anyone should spoil their fun unless their just plain mean

and besides you can totally get the kids to make you a midnight snack by saying "santa clause wants you to give him beer and cookies so bake some now or else you wont get any presents you little shitbags" or something similar

It's a fun tradition, and I don't see any reason not to. The whole thing about children being broken after finding out santa claus doesn't exist is bullshit, as far as I can see. I think most children realise it's a game.

I don't think it should be done. I know it's all just for fun and stuff, but I think it's wrong lying to children like that. And christmas can still be a fun time even without Santa Clause or anything that comes close to it.

Haha, Automaton ninja'd me. I was gonna say ''in b4 'wait, santa isn't real'' as soon as I saw the thread title. Anyway, as long as no harm can be demonstrated, I'm fine with it.

If you want to tell your kids he's not real right off the bat, I don't see why there'd be a problem in it. For me it was, as alive said, just a fun tradition. Part of what made Christmas so fun for me was waiting down in the living room with a camera for him to come, only, I'd always fall asleep before I saw anything and wake up seeing a bunch of presents already there.

Personally, I think it's one of those things the kids should find out on my own, like I did when I realized the "to and from" labels on the gifts from "Santa" had the same handwriting as my dad's. Let the kids be kids and don't bore them with reality until they're old enough to know what the word "reality" even means.

I think it's fine. Generally there isn't too much trauma when the child finds out there is nothing. I especially profit off of it because I have younger siblings and it's difficult for Santa to bring them presents and not me.

I think telling kids he exists starts christmas out in a fun magical way, that implants a sense of anticipation and joy in the christmas time of year. Teach them that its fun early, they will think its fun later.

I've never heard of children suffering from trauma after finding out Santa isn't real. It's not like they commit suicide because they find out there isn't a magical fat man flying around giving everyone presents at the exact same second in time. Experiences like that only give them a better grip on reality. I certainly turned out fine. My brother, too. My parents never told us shit. Most of the time, the kids find out on their own because they're old enough to be able to make sense of things by the time they find out. Even still, if a five year old catches their dad putting the presents under the tree, the parents can easily cover it up with another lie.

Just let the kids find out on their own. It helps them out in the long run.

Yeah, I figured it out on my own too.

Santa is a magical element in the process of growing-up.
