We could make a closed usergroup called 'Members Who Don't Suck.' Only have that usergroup allowed to chat.

You guys are even too harsh on the IRC. I had a lot of fun there, talking to strung, cosmo, dudeman, stuff, 52xM, kveyo, mantha, jeremy and many more. It's not like it died a horrible death right after it was created. It was active for a long time in certain time spaces, and we did a lot of stupid shit, like visit an awesome slipknot forum together, but it slowly died when people had to concentrate on school and shit again, and basically forgot about it.
With a chatbox on the forum, it would be much easier to connect to it, as it is always right there in front of you, and hence it would be active. I don't really see a reason not to at least try it..?

O.o

The chat itself is in no way just a few lines of code,
think more like,
a few hundred or thousand.

Actually, you'd be surprised at what C++ can do these days.

I also like Wsheerio's idea. What if we made a thread with the chat on it. Lock the thread so no one makes a post. And then make the thread a sticky. That way it's easy to navigate to, and it doesn't lag anyone whom it might if it's just on the front page.

So.... you've never heard of IRC?

[edit]
Hurray for only reading the first 3 pages!

But I think it would become redundant as IRC is now.

Yeah,
it's still not going to be a 10 line piece of code, and it definitely won't be completely programmed in C++,
We would need to use a server side scripting language AND another language.

No. As the IRC took effort to get to with the navigating and all, the front page Chat would be alot easier. For those who hate firefox, rawr.

I'd be interested in a stickpage lobby of IRC, but there are a lot of IRC clients out there from what I can tell and I'd like recommendations.
Getting the IRC chat back up would be mighty fine.

Yeah, because the majority of SPP members are lazy and don't like to do anything more than signing in and clicking.

EDIT: This poster doesn't believe in sarcasm.

I can't even tell if that's sarcasm because it's so true.

weve tried an irc on this forum and it sucked. no one was ever on and it died twice or 3 times. It was inactive as ****. Unless it's put onto stickpage.com's front page it wont get any attention.

Wrong. The IRC was active on 4 separate occasions over the years and was very active for a few months each time. I always see people like you that were there right when it started to die down saying "the irc sucked blah blah no one was ever on", but you weren't there when there were 30+ people on.

Agreed. I had some of my funnest internet times on the stickpage IRC. Mainly because the core group of people that were there were actually people that I liked and were somewhat interesting (ie. 52xM, stuff, alive, cosmonaut, etc). I don't know if it would be as fun with the general population, because the new "regulars" in the chat thread are all pretty annoying.

The forum-based chat could be a good idea, but if it doesn't work out, there's really nothing wrong with the IRC channel.

Why, because I'm for the chatbox and have expressed my opinion on the matter. Stop deleting my posts because you don't agree with them; they were legitimate. You've expressed your opinion and Exilement basically cockslapped them.

If that were true, I'd have to delete half of the posts in this thread. It's not something you decide by yourself whether your posts are legitimate or not. I'll delete whatever I think is worth of deletion. You were throwing a fit over nothing.

Yes, I've expressed my opinion. And no, Exilement didn't cockslap them, my points still stand. If there's anything that needs cockslapping here, it's you. You are not a contributive member of this forum (yet) and you've been warned before. I don't see why are you so loud and obnoxious about this, as if it's your right to request shit here or something.
