What is monogatari anyway and why is it so popular?

You should go watch it
Just to be clear, I'm not recommending it or anything, but it's something you really need to see for yourself before you can really understand it
Veir, definitely don't watch kill la kill, that's a pure waste of your time
If you're content with only choosing from those two, Eureka 7 is by far the better choice, but if you want other recommendations, I could hook a nigga up

What, so I just search monogatari online?

Eureka 7 is kind of long though. And there's no way Kill la Kill is that bad, at least not to the point where I would call it the "far better choice."

have you seen kill la kill? It was pretty terrible
out of those two eureka seven is definitely the better work
and no, type in bakemonogatari, since that's the first of the series, typing in just monogatari is bound to just confuse you
If you want to watch the whole thing in order, it goes bakemonogatari, nisemonogatari, nekomonogatari, monogatari second season and then hanamonogatari

No I haven't, but I've mostly heard good things about it. It can't be that bad. I mean Eureka Seven wasn't revolutionary or anything. It was pretty good, but it's definitely an anime not everyone would enjoy. It's long and the MC is kind of edgy in a way and the plot can get confusing. And it you're not into mechs, you won't like it too much either. It's a pretty slow anime.

Don't believe everything you hear, no guarantees, but if you were to watch it for yourself I feel like you'd be more inclined to agree with me
and I'm not saying everyone would enjoy it, I can only recommend based on how I feel about it, and to me personally, E7 is better than KLK

I liked kill la kill... I mean the concept is similar to gurren lagann with being ruled by some form of life and being repressed... Well in kill la kill the being repressing humans is some what dumb but they still make a great show that didn't disappoint... The humor in kill la kill was funny and yes there are unfunny jokes as well but that's because everyone has different kinds of humor and they try to get everyone to laugh

It's a good bit of fun, nothing more than that, if you've watched any of the fate series you'll get some kicks out of it, since that's what it mostly references when it's not too busy making fun of itself for being a magical girl series
Of course watch the first season first

Oh my god, episode 135 of hunterXhunter. I knew something was up when I started watching and the 134 episode long cheerful intro didn't play.
Must be the saddest shounen episode I have ever seen in my life. I'm legit all choked up, DAMN!

I've predicted everything in this show up to this point, but I didn't see this outcome, it blind sided me. Weirdest love story I've ever watched though. It doesn't help that Gungi is the plot device of this episode either, so sad.

That feel when you're watching an anime and suddenly its got you by the balls.

if there's any love story I saw in HxH it would be Meruem and Pouf.
Or Gon and Hisoka.
Or Killua and Illumi.

Video game worlds to me are just cop out settings to appeal to a broader audience and create "easier" plots by taking elements from an already existing medium. It's boring because there's no originality. In every single one, there's always going to different overworlds, leveling up, putting items in the inventory, so on and so forth. Every single thing from major settings to the little things is from a video game to the point where you feel kind of numb to everything that happens. The development of each character also becomes insanely boring and monotone. Oh, you want to improve? You fucking grind and level-up. No, you don't improve like every other action story where you use your own abilities and creative prowess to combat the enemy. No, you grind, level up and sometimes you learn a god damn new skill, and then voila now you can beat the enemy! It's systematic and a load of shit. Many elements become determined simply on levels, equipment, or skills. It's a shallow and lazy way of comparing the abilities of different characters and it hinders the plot substantially. There's no thrill involved because it no longer feels like the protagonist is special and improves on his own ability via his own training and creativity, it's now controlled by a third, outside element that does the training for him. Not to mention the powers themselves also lack any semblance of creativity too, because they also have to be based off of some fantasy WoW bullshit. Reading video game mangas feels like I'm watching the most boring, stereotypical JRPG cutscene for hours with no playtime. This terrible, awful element mixed with the stereotypical shounen plotlines and/or fanservice characters that you always have makes it even worse to read.

That's actually pretty funny, because Kirito does nothing of the sort and that is almost the common complaint about the series, is that he's just SuddenlyAwesome, doing things you could never actually do in an MMO (like taking on a highlevel mob by yourself) and we're suppose to eat that shit up.

The Video Game World. Is a framing device. And if you are reading it for consistency and expecting some godsend transcendent piece of art, then don't cop out the plot just because of how it's built. Blame the plot not the means by which it is being told.

Examples of awesome plots with Video Game Settings: Assassin's Creed and Tron

I want to clarify that I mostly mean RPG/MMO worlds. Other "video game" worlds I'm more or less fine with.

I thought the premise is that his reflexes are insane, and since it's part simulator he was able to go solo because of his skillz. That said near the end of season one he admitted to reaching the limit of what a solo player could do.

Because it's an mmorpg that requires skill to be good at, so basically a new genre of mmorpg.
