Facts are directly observable and experimentally verifiable.
Theories explain phenomena that we cannot observe directly (gravity, evolution, the big bang) using facts and evidence. It's an explanation, the best one possible given the data that supports it. Facts will never become theories and vice versa.
If you're going to challenge a theory, you need to address the facts behind it, and explain why they are incompatible with the theory. Dismissing it as "just a theory" is just proving your own ignorance to simple scientific terms.
By this logic, Harry Potter is "proof" that wizards exist because a story about them is written in a series of books.
If I get a sharp pain in my leg, the only thing that I can say for sure is "I feel something". That doesn't say anything about what's causing it. Could be a cramp, or a bug biting me, or anything else.
If I also believe the ghost of Andre the Giant is haunting me, and I say he's the one making my leg hurt, that doesn't prove anything. That's ridiculous.
You feel something, but you have no reason to say it's God causing it.
Uhh, you base your entire moral code on a book? Being an atheist doesn't mean you can't be a good person, I don't need a commandment to know murder is wrong. You're coming off as a pompous dick for implying your religion makes you better than me.
call them facts, call them theories. when you get down to it, there not sure! have you read much on the big bang theory? the whole idea is pretty much them not being sure. some suggest it had something to do with black holes. well who made the black holes?
i would suggest not relating God with silly fiction tales. remember that even scientists say we only use 10% of our full brain power. jesus uses more then 10%, and thats where the "wizard" type stuff might come in.
i suggest moving away from the "feeling" thing since unfortunatley your not in tune enough to feel it. andre the giant stabbing your leg is extremely different then listening and feeling Gods presence.
im sorry if you got butt hurt but that wasnt directed towards you. i was merely saying that when you feel like doing something bad, like commiting adultry, thats a demon tempting you. honestly a conversation with a person with a hardened heart is seeming more and more hopeless. man, this forum seems very one sided... also please consult the debate forum rules. calling me a dick is completely out of line and off topic. its a debate not an argument.
im not sure if this will tilt you in the right direction since you dont know or trust me, but, i know people who were enlightened enough to speak with god. and no, they werent crazy. it was actually the most sane man i know. my father. pretty sure that wont matter to you but i wanted to throw it in anyways.
